hello,
Can you tell me where snake wine is sold in Cambodia ?
Maybe a shop near a Vietnamese border ?
Thanks.

You can easily find the bottles with the snake heads inside at Russian market or the night markets (SR and PP). No idea what crap level of Mekong whisky is inside the bottles though, but they do look cool.CannabisTourist wrote:hello,

Yea like Migo said. If you are in Siem Reap, go to the Angkor Supermarket, they have a whole baby cobra sitting in it, some of the bottles still had their fangs sticking out too. Ewwwwww!
Hello OP, love your name Do you intend to take it overseas? I love them and want one on my matlepiece in NZ, would make a great talking point. But I would have to declare I'm carrying 'animals, dead or alive etc-. In short not allowed,, even a bottle with no snake just liquid no label, no allowed, could be liquid meth.
An Aussie guy walked into my bro-in-laws art gallery with one ,had 2 snakes and the greenery, beautiful, he wanted it painted with labels (he supplied off a 1 litre Cambodia whiskey} front and back. It created quite excitement with the other gallery people coming. Anyway after 20 minutes of 20 opinions the spray gun was loaded with a matt black colour(as required ) dried, labels glued straight, it looked passable, apart from the labels stating 1litre, this bottle was 2 litres. lol. That was many years ago and I still wonder if he succeeded the smuggle.

I had a bottle of that stuff years ago. A friend who visited years left a bottle in my house. He bought it thinking it looked great but then realized it would be seized if he tried to take it home. I think it was while moving house that it either started leaking or at least that became apparent. I opened the bottle with the aim of sharing it with a relative. It smelled absolutely foul. Like some rancid fish that had been hiding in a zombie cat's ass for weeks. It was thrown in the bin.
Anyway, in conclusion it might look kind of freaky having a cobra/ scorpions in a bottle on your shelf, but it's a sad waste of animal life.

I’ve wondered sometimes if they’re real snakes or not...Lucky Lucan wrote:I had a bottle of that stuff years ago. A friend who visited years left a bottle in my house. And why seized? Because he only had a carry-on, or from customs at home?

From the customs in one of those upside-down countries in the southern hemisphere. They can be quite strict which is totally understandable.Miguelito wrote:I’ve wondered sometimes if they’re real snakes or not...Lucky Lucan wrote:I had a bottle of that stuff years ago. I'm pretty sure they are real, rubber snakes couldn't smell like these things do. Anyway, what is puzzling me is how the hell they can squeeze a baby cobra with a grass snake in its mouth through the neck of a bottle. Are they just really good at arranging stuff with chopsticks? Or do they arrange these dead snakes and then dry them in the sun on a roof-top till they shrivel to a tiny size like Shrinky Dinks, only to be restored to full size by the addition of dubious rice-wine. Anyway, grab a bottle sometime, it's great for your health and will improve your virility 1000 %.Miguelito wrote:

Considering that the Cobras and Pythons used are listed on CITES, you might find that most custom officials in the West do not look to kindly upon this.Miguelito wrote:They are real alright. I wonder what % alcohol we are talking with those silly snake bottles? Maybe the slightly rotting snake makes it ferment more??
I figure the toxicity must be higher than regular spirits.
I like my drinks toxic, but not that toxic.
