With all the guesthouses (and some hotels) I’ve stayed in here, I’ve booked by phone or email, or sometimes just rocked up. Very rarely asked to pay up front. Passport is photocopied. Pay the next morning.Hanno wrote:

Same. In hotels in nearly every other country they swiped a credit card on check-in. But then the question is, have you lost more revenue because guests are offended that you make them pay in advance and it sours the experience, and they don't return or don't recommend the place. Valid point but then I have always worked on the 4-5 star market where people fully expect to have to guarantee their bookings. Might be different in a soap-dodger hostel.gavinmac wrote:

I'm not suggesting that your approach is wrong. It's just that many hotels in Cambodia seem to think it's good business to let people pay later, there must be a reason why they think that's better.
