I don't think Chris ( fantasticplanet) realizes how much PP, SR and KK have changed. This change is why I have left , I can't afford to be there anymore unless I work and getting work that doesn't grind you down is harder ( speaking only as a TEFLer) .
However, I think the real is question is Why has the OP decided to re-engage on a forum a country he left a long time ago?
You ain't coming across as a happy person mate.

k440, something to do when you're pissed.
I know someone earning big bucks working for a Multinational company, and another mate owns his own business doing very well indeed. And a few old Nam vets living it up.
They all enjoy good food, cheap booze and smoke(s).A lovely apartment. and no freezing cold winter times.
Each to their own.

You know what, Lucky Lucan, you want to call me stupid, go ahead. I was being kind of stupid back then. But stop trying to portray me as some kind of scum bag. A lesser man would have gotten on a plane and left, problem solved. But I could never do that to MY SON, my own flesh and blood. I chose the hard road. And I have never believed in abortion, it’s murder. I impregnated a crazy woman overseas, and so I had to be a man and take responsibility and deal with it. And I did! Thanks to my tenacity and pragmatic problem solving skills, he is happy and healthy and getting a great education in America and he has a bright future ahead of himself. I still have PTSD like visions of him in an alternate reality, begging on the streets of Phnom Penh, huffing glue from a plastic bag, ‘ sir, som moi roi ‘ Cambodia is loaded with left behind mixed kids living in poverty now. I cried when I heard about Arjaan the Dutchman dying and leaving his kids behind there. I hope they’re ok.Lucky Lucan wrote:Well he pretty much told us as much himself, and some of his old acquaintances filled in some gaps.slavedog wrote:I don't know shit about you either but I wouldn't mind betting Lucan isn't far off the mark.
fantasticplanet wrote:Dude, no contest, Filipina. I have an 11 year old son with my Cambodian ex. While we were in Cambodia, she gambled all my money away and then threatened to kill the baby and periodically disappeared with him to get her way. I barely managed to get out of the country with him because I had taken care of all his paperwork. Despite this, I later got her a visa and she came to America. She stayed with us for about 6 months before disappearing. We got legally divorced in America in 2014. And yes, she wasn’t no ‘good girl ‘. I was on Asiandating.com last year and started taking to a nice enough Cambodian ‘good girl ‘ but she needed $10,000 to marry her!
Then I started looking at Filipinas. I got lots of interest, and they weren’t hookers either. I eventually narrowed it down to one and then flew over there to spend time with her. We stayed together for a month and it was just wonderful. I am 45, she’s 33, she’s a widow with 4 kids, I am divorced with just the 1, but it is the kiss of death with American women, they don’t want anything to do with another woman ‘s baby. And of course she’s much better looking than me too, but I am still really appreciated and treated with respect. After living in Cambodia, China, and America, the Philippines was just amazing. People are just genuinely friendly and kind there. It was just what I needed after the cultural warfare of the 2016 election. Now I am in the process of getting visas for her and her kids. Should be by the end of the summer. Simple choice-live in peace, harmony, and love with a Christian Filipina or be exploited and abused by one of the daughters of Pol Pot.fantasticplanet wrote:The bottom line is, whatever nationality of SE Asian bride you choose, don’t choose a hooker. And that is really the most important advice we can give this guy if he is a SE Asia newbie. To be honest, the $10,000 dowry was what pushed me into making that very bad decision in the past, but no more. My Filipina girl is a housewife, she was before her old man died, then she was dependent on overseas relatives, and then me. I am in contact with her through Facebook everyday. She is a church going, practicing Catholic. Snoop Dogg said it best, you can’t make a ho a housewife. But seriously, although the environment and the people bear superficial resemblances between Cambodia and the Philippines, they couldn’t be more different as people. Cambodians, like mainland Chinese, are deeply traumatized by communism, and are just not people that I choose to have in my life anymore. I wish them the best, but they are all dangerous. These are low trust societies, where everyone is backstabbing each other all the time. Philippines really wasn’t like that for me at all last summer. I have the highest opinion of them.Peaceman wrote:Now lets consider the personal hypocrisy. You tell us you helped your son';s mother, a Cambodian bar girl, to immigrate to the US where she now lives, and now you intend to do the same to a Philippina girl who you met online. So that is two people you have helped immigrate to the US. At the same time you are applauding a President who is so hard line on immigration that he is tearing children from the arms of their mothers and locking them in cages. A President who wants to build a wall across the Southern border and who has smeared immigrants as rapists and criminals. Do you not see the hypocrisy here , You imported a Cambodian prostitute to live in the US and yet you support a President who is literally ripping immigrant families apart at the border.
The biggest problem with my ex is that she is mentally ill. All kinds of people have mental illness, rich, poor, whatever. And I was stupid to marry her and get pregnant just 2 months after meeting her . She disguised it well. She talked about her abusive childhood and swore that she would never let her own child go through what she had gone through. I believed her. I have a perhaps foolish, very American belief that people can transcend the problems of their surroundings if their life conditions change. If someone loved them like they hadn’t been before. But I think Cambodians seem to have a fatalistic opinion about this that I think is rooted in Buddhism. What you are is just your karma or something. So it’s just wasted on them. There can be no change for those who don’t believe in it. Anyway, by October her other personality started to emerge . She is a compulsive gambler. She would disappear with the baby inside of her and demand money for gambling debts or else I would never see her and the baby again! After he was born, she mercilessly did the same, taking the baby and disappearing, even though he needed to have life saving surgery shortly after birth and ISPP had just let me go. Conspired with the landlord to push me out of the bookshop on St. 278 so they could open an Internet cafe, again using the baby. Held a sharp knife over her own child and threatened to stab him if I didn’t pay up. Held him out of a moving tuk tuk to make me pay. You can try to slander me and her, blame it on what a fat loser I am, call her a whore, whatever, but that doesn’t explain her feelings about her own precious baby. How could she do these things? My sweet perfect boy never did anything to deserve this abuse from his mother. These are the actions of a person with profound mental health problems. And where was I supposed to turn to for help? The police? I am a foreigner and she’s Khmer! No chance for fair treatment, another reason I am so glad I am gone! When she disappeared with the baby once for over a week, I consulted with an American lawyer and he said,’ she’s his mother and so she has the right to take him anywhere she wants. And as his father, you do too. Including to America.’
So you can puzzle over my ‘hypocrisy ‘ in doing this and that, voting for Trump, but the reason is the same. I believe in what’s called Common Law or Natural Law. First and foremost, that means that I cannot be compelled to do anything that would harm myself or my kin. The first Law is you take care of yourself and your family. This connects to Trump because they were trying to use the media to create peer pressure to get everyone to just sign off their approval of her and the DNC rigging the primary. And from there, we descend down the same slippery slope that Cambodia has been on, ending up like Cambodia with cancelled elections. Tolerance of government corruption breeds more government corruption. From a principled position, even though Trump is very flawed, he had legitimately won the republican primary, so he should win. You can’t let the powers that be cheat, or you lose your power. Natural Law!
And I actually am sorry for all the suffering at this border and everything. At least we retained civilian control of the executive branch of the government, so we can fix it later.
Even though she is terrible, and I had an obligation to protect him from her, taking him from her in 2007 was one of the most heartbreaking things I have ever done. And I tried to fix it in 2011,hoping that the new environment would change things. But she really just has no love in her heart. It’s ok that she treated me so badly, I am a grown man. But the way she has treated her own child! And without bringing her here, how could I have divorced her? Go back to biased Cambodia courts for justice? Have them demand that I return the child to Cambodia? Ha! I see another thread today about a missing little girl and her Japanese father or something. And people saying Khmer 440 shouldn’t get involved. Alexandria, if you’re a lawyer, maybe you should do something for the sake of all these kids born from these circumstances. They all have the potential to become successful like my son if they just had an adult who cared and would try to be a hero for them. A better thing to do than harass and insult a good man who made a stupid mistake but has done absolutely everything he can to fix it.
So this is hopefully my last communication with Cambodia. I came here remembering all the amazing political conversations I used to have, and I think I introduced some pretty interesting stuff, but no one wants to talk about McLuhan or Larouche. They just hurl ad hominem attacks at me and then all I talk about is myself. So I can see there’s no point, Cambodia is lost. Lucan and Alexandria, I just ask that you don’t do something petty and cruel to prevent my Filipina Fiancee from getting her visa just because we disagree about politics. My son has suffered enough without a mom, and I specifically chose her because she is a great mom. It’s ok if you think I am an asshole, but don’t punish my child, my fiancé , and her kids too because I have said some inflammatory things. will just post a few pictures and leave you alone now, please do the same. Peace.

But I still look pretty ugly! It made no difference. Women still rejected me. No American woman will take another woman’s kid!

Say, what do you think about all of the guys in Trump's inner circle under investigation and that are pleading guilty? What do you think about the clear conflicts of interest that abound?
And, you like to talk about Pizzagate (can you elaborate, I don't get that one), how about Stormy Daniels? Do you think she was just a target of a politically motivated set up to arrest her?

Here’s me in my role as a Chinese language teacher with some of my best students getting gold, silver and bronze medals for their Chinese language skills at a statewide competition. I am actually one of the most important Chinese language teachers and hold lifetime certification now in my hick flyover state. I just drive for Uber in the summer as a side gig. Apparently, even in Cambodia, the internet is compressing identity so that people just become a 2D image of a particular job . In fact, all people are 3 dimensional, with length, height, and depth. Try to remember that!

Some of the most important truths are disguised as jokes. Study this illustration carefully and keep that in mind. This cartoon contains more truth than a year of The New York Times!
Good luck everyone! Good bye!
