Make way for China
It's pretty fair to say China has taken over SNV,maybe not completely as yet but it won't be far off.
What is next after SNV is totally destroyed and turned into a mega casino. Kampot,Kep...is there any end in sight...?
Unfortunately it's not just happening in Cambodia. China has a powerful influence in almost every corner of the world now. To me it feels almost like a game of chess, with China having all the pieces on the board still and everyone else in the world only has a few pawns left to defend against check mate!
What does China want?

Don't mention the Giant Panda in the room.
If you mean the Chinese government then they want: political stability at home, political influence abroad, increased development, a higher overall standard of living for their citizens, deterrant military strength, and absolute, unquestionable Communist Party continuation in power. Their interest and intent in Cambodia and other countries helps promote several of those aims.Marvin wrote:What does China want?
If you mean the average Chinese citizen then I imagine they want more personal freedom, more economic opportunity, better air quality, increased income, less government control of every aspect of their lives, less corruption, and a way to get their family out of China and into a developed Western country if those things don't gradually materialize. I can't imagine any human being genuinely content with complete government control and censorship of ideas, information, and media.

All these billions they are spending in other countries is to make the population more affluent so they can buy more Chinese products and or work in Chinese factories using roads and rail to ship their products to other countries where they’ve done the same.
If you read Xi’s manifesto on BRI that’s exactly what it says.

Is it true that most of the shipping of exports out of China are taken care of through government subsidy. I was watching a video from a long time, maybe the first Western blogger in China yesterday who said that most of the companies ship their manufactured products overseas basically free with government subsidized shipping. That's a huge benefit if correct.

Not my claims. I asked the question here to have conversation, you know sometimes that's better than just googling everything.batshitcrazyweirdo wrote:Untrue. Thanks for the encouragement. I am currently reading about the Universal Postal Union (UPU) and have no more need for conversation here about this topic here. Cheers.batshitcrazyweirdo wrote:Untrue. Funny, I read your initial comment and thought about large commercial shipping (containers), not parcel shipping through the mail. What did you first mean?

I'm not in the right frame of mind for this, but I'll try.
Sorry, K. I just lived it. There is a fanatical trend toward the new SAR or whateva they call it in Shanghai.
Telsa and others are the ones that get burned. China is propping up their economic destruction with the Central Bank.
Huawei put chips in all their computers and phones that mine data on it. China steals shit, just like everyone else, but they have no innovation and just copycat shit really mf good. That Shenzhen report on CNN is bullshit. No INNOVATION! They sit around and play games.
But they do know how to hack. There is that. They are not superior in any way for further innovation.
Best get out of China as you know it now. Batshit advice.

Yeah I was meaning large commercial shipping is containers ect from China to overseas markets. This vlogger quickly mentioned that many of the largest manufacturers save huge amounts of cost by using state controlled shipping companies with huge subsidy discounts to give their manufacturers an advantage. Didn't know if that was true or not.Miguelito wrote:Yet another international agreement that Trump is pulling the US out of.kansaicanuck wrote:Thanks for the encouragement. Likewise, I have always wondered why when I send something from Cambodia to Canada, United States or Japan for example that costs me $30 with DHL (affiliates)... It costs over 100$ for the same thing coming back here. I suppose this has to do with the Universal Postal Union (UPU) as well.

Sounds about right to me Kansaicanuck...I think just about every good or service that is exported for the good of team China is subsidised by the Chinese government. Take SNV for example nearly all of the construction companies building the casinos and hotels for the Chinese there are state companies. Also I would bet (not in a casino) that most of the Chinese businessmen etc that come to Cambodia and everywhere else in the world are towing the China line! Or they wouldn't be leaving the Airport.
Don't mention the Giant Panda in the room.
