cognac/armagnac
New to PP and looking for a shop that has a good cognac/armagnac selection at a reasonable price. Any suggestions? Thanks. Joe

I drank some Hennessey Cognac last night.
Didn't like it much, it had a Nazi aftertaste.

Bayon has a good selection. Lucky Drink Shop less selection but possible to get a good bargain if you're in luck - excuse the pun.
I happen to be of the opinion that it's the only spirit worth drinking.

Maybe check with Celliers D'asie if you want something a little better than the run-of-the-mill Cognacs and Armagnacs.

Hennessey was started by an Irish emigrant. I'm not sure what the Nazi connection is, it's a French drink.Stokely wrote:I drank some Hennessey Cognac last night.

Hennessy (pay attention to the correct spelling) sold 90 million bottles in 2017; chances are that a large number of unsavory characters imbibed.
P.S.: Does water taste like Nazi too? Sure Hitler and his cronies must have drank it.

"I don't care what the people are thinking, i ain't drunk i'm just drinking"
Thats what I thought: The historian Ian Kershaw wrote in his Biography ['Hitler'] http://www.amazon.co.uk/Hitler-Ian-Kers ... 0141035889 that on the rare occasion he did drink, he would often add sugar to wine to make it sweeter, and would reject drinks too bitter in nature. Hitlers abstinence was mainly due to his digestive issues and he was known to be consumed with worries about his health.Lucky Lucan wrote:As far as I know he didn't drink alcohol at all.Stokely wrote:Hitler was a big fan of it.Lucky Lucan wrote:Hennessey was started by an Irish emigrant. "Hitler was a big fan of it." I think that's a bit of a stretch of the imagination!
Quote from the referenced Telegraph article:
A well-known German restaurateur claims to have found a secret store of cognac and champagne that once belonged to Adolf Hitler. Silvio Stelzer found the liquor stored in a deep complex of cellars under the gardens of his restaurant in Saxony. He said he had also found ledgers which showed Hitler's staff had moved the valuable bottles there to protect them from Allied air raids on Berlin.
Hitler rarely drank, and it is likely the brandy and champagne would have been used for entertaining.
Mr Stelzer said the records also showed Hitler's staff had also sent cheese, salami, chocolate and cigarettes to be stored in the cellars. Beware of Nazi tasting cheese and chocolates guys!
