Feel like I am being torn bit by bit. Should of use my brain instead of my dick.
Thailand made me...after 20 years..Other than the easier visa thing here, most everything else (especially making money) seems harder. I cannot see how some guys stay here for years without leaving the country.....I would go crazy....Have to get out twice a year minimum.

The hangovers seem to be harder in cambodia.

Not so much Cambodia, more the misguided reputation abroad.
I think it's more about what kind of substance abuse, and how much you do of it, that matters.

The weed , 2000 riel cans of anchor and the codeine/ diazepam seems to be the cheapest in cambodia compared to the entire planet.newnewnewbie wrote:Not so much Cambodia, more the misguided reputation abroad.

I think I spent my time pretty much like I would have anywhere else in the world.

Carlsberg now how’s the majority share in Angkor so the quality there has gone up; Heineken has Tiger; Cambodia runs a legit operation; and Anchor, well, tastes a bit metallic but treated the hash right for a number of years.Tuktukpizza wrote:The hangovers seem to be harder in cambodia.

I had already been a bit wild through my teens and twenties before I ever came here. So I had gotten that out of the way more or less. If I had come here when I first considered it in the mid-90s, I would likely be dead now. It's a much safer and more sanitized atmosphere now but could still be a bit dangerous for anyone young and a bit careless. Like anywhere really.

We have similar backstories.Lucky Lucan wrote:I had already been a bit wild through my teens and twenties before I ever came here. So I had gotten that out of the way more or less. Many expats are bad on the drink in the KoW.Miguelito wrote:Carlsberg now how’s the majority share in Angkor so the quality there has gone up; Heineken has Tiger; Cambodia runs a legit operation; and Anchor, well, tastes a bit metallic but treated the hash right for a number of years.Tuktukpizza wrote:The hangovers seem to be harder in cambodia.

If they dont get there act together by either sobering up or going home to recover then liver disease/jaundice/hepatitis is almost 100% certain death over time.
Main reason i dont live in cambodia full time.

If one comes to Cambodia with a tendency to be an alcoholic then yes, it is probably the wrong place as booze is cheap and drinking is commonplace. But I do not believe Cambodia turns everyone into an alcoholic. You always only come as a tourist and hang out in bars and thus do not see the many expats that live pretty normal lives.Tuktukpizza wrote:Many expats are bad on the drink in the KoW.Miguelito wrote:Carlsberg now how’s the majority share in Angkor so the quality there has gone up; Heineken has Tiger; Cambodia runs a legit operation; and Anchor, well, tastes a bit metallic but treated the hash right for a number of years.Tuktukpizza wrote:The hangovers seem to be harder in cambodia.

I agree that drinking is a very popular pastime here. However of the few people I've known who have died here none of them died of those conditions (liver disease/jaundice/hepatitis). So I'm not sure where this 100% figure comes from. I have a good idea though.Tuktukpizza wrote: If they dont get there act together by either sobering up or going home to recover then liver disease/jaundice/hepatitis is almost 100% certain death over time.
