Further to anim8ed's thread
http://www.khmer440.com/chat_forum/viewtopic.php?t=6729
and Bubble T's request.
The following is a basic working-draft streetmap of PP.
If you would like to contribute information about streets or junctions that you know to flood after a good half hour's rain, then right-click save it, edit it in paint or photoshop or somesuch and email it back to me at
chuangt2u(at)yahoo.co.uk
or leave a note on this thread. I'll compile all info onto one map and post updated versions here once a week ish.
With enough interest and input from this board, this could be refined, finished and useable in very short order.
Suggestions for colour coding....
Base colour = unknown
Green = passable with no flooding
Blue = flooded but passable by moto
Red = impassable to all but heavy shipping.
Download a full sized .jpg here 350kb

Download the .psd file here if you'd like to add to the info. 5.5mb

Wet season streetmap
Many thanks Koastal.
Hopefully, with enough info given to make up this map, a dry run might appear and then your Mao scenario would be something we could all choose to avoid in future.
I don't mind riding in the rain and it can be a good buzz to splash around in the dark on a weekend night trying to figure out where the potholes are, but sometimes after a day's work I just don't need the hassle.

Can't believe no-one got these:
- the South-West corner of Wat Phnom (at USA Embassy, not Sunway side) is more then 3 feet deep after heavy rain
- corner of Sothearos and Street 240 (at Silver Pagoda) is even deeper. It's the only place my Sanyang ever got stuck. Took me a good few hours to get the water out of the system
- corner of Street 19 and 214, and up North to 184 gets quite deep but most of the time it's passable. Stay in the middle of the road...
PS Hi y'all, been busy lately...

Image update
cheers to all ..... keep them coming.
After buying some transport the other week, I had my first run in with the police that actually cost me something. The wankers emptied my wallet last Saturday, I took it out to get out my driving license and they immediately said "you got money for fine??" Luckily I keep reil in the wallet and dollars in my pocket, but it still cost me 30,000.
Who would like to contribute to another map showing all the regular police checkpoints in PP and shortcuts or avoidance routes? Any interest?
They took my money, but maybe I can cost them in the long run....
