Expats 2.0 vs 1.0
Not even the best scene in the movie.newnewnewbie wrote: ↑Thu May 09, 2019 8:11 amYeah well, I'd be carefull dealing with anyone named 'Stranix', here, or anywhere else really
But this cut works well editorially together with the, for the time, innovative percussive music track, using metallic samples and digital delays, that make it fit so well with the action and storyline. But this team was replaced in successive productions, as he wanted to take creative control himself, resulting in a toe crumbling series of b-action flicks, with quality loss following a negative exponential line, in the end hurting his otherwise self confident character portrayal. But I hear he also plays a mean blues guitar, so gonna give him some respect for that, at least. As for wife beaters, I still like Mel Gibson better.

But the knife fight is technically rubbish. Real trained special forces wouldn’t hold the knife like that - why would you not want it pointing forward toward your assailant? The more space between your body and his weapon the better.newnewnewbie wrote: ↑Thu May 09, 2019 8:11 amYeah well, I'd be carefull dealing with anyone named 'Stranix', here, or anywhere else really

I suppose it looks better for TV.
Well a SEAL told me that and it makes sense. If you want to argue the details I’ll let him know and get back to you.

Actually I believe that’s the proper way to hold a knife in a fight. It gives more options - a knife fight is not fencing, and being able to stab outwards and downwards, while retaining the ability to punch, gives an added benefit to trying to spar as if you’re holding a light saber (and in real life it would be a tell on who knows what they’re doing and who doesn’t - I would be much more threatened by a guy in boxer’s stance hold a knife like that than someone just pointing it at me).
I love it when you have a beer in KoW and the guy next to you claims to be in the Vietnam war/Somalia/iraq war/afgahnistan war/A green beret /Cia opperative/FBI/Secret service/Special forces/french foreign legion all at the same time whilst having at least 3 of the following attributes that being old/overweight/bald/glasses/no neck/Tatooed/mentally unstable .
Those guys are alway full of shit, They are Expat 0.0 because the have been and never were.

I love it how you have met so many of these guys and I have never met a single one. Most of us avoid pathetic lying tourists, which is probably why none of us have ever met you. Good luck staring at the walls champ.Perthguy wrote: ↑Fri May 10, 2019 12:45 amI love it when you have a beer in KoW and the guy next to you claims to be in the Vietnam war/Somalia/iraq war/afgahnistan war/A green beret /Cia opperative/FBI/Secret service/Special forces/french foreign legion all at the same time whilst having at least 3 of the following attributes that being old/overweight/bald/glasses/no neck/Tatooed/mentally unstable .

Romantic Cambodia is dead and gone. It's with McKinley in the grave.

I don't need advice from some autistic laborer whose idea of a holiday is sitting in a room staring at walls.

What's wrong with sitting in a room staring at walls? It passes the time in a life just like being with others does. It's all just stuff you do until you die. I'd say it's less delusional than the latter.

This is where the major shift happened, everything after that is 2.0.
Pre 1.0 must be the time before movies like Lara Croft: Tomb Raider
(2001)and City of Ghosts (2002) made the place popular with the masses.

I was thinking the same thing. I know it's often joked about, but I don't think I've ever met anyone claiming to be former special forces here.Lucky Lucan wrote: ↑Fri May 10, 2019 1:20 amI love it how you have met so many of these guys and I have never met a single one. I've met a few folks, who were in the army, and they always have substantial evidence, old pictures in uniform and all that. But special forces, CIA and all that are people working under cover, acting as regular business people, working for major international corporations. Some of them you can spot on the vehicles they drive, or their outfits and body language. They are well fed, well educated and hang at the best establishments in town.
