If anyone can't afford, or just doesn't want, to pay a tiny bit more to stay in a place with a generator, they are always going to be happier staying in their home country, unless they don't mind the weather or the outages. No wonder so many SEA natives think many barangs just love to complain about everything. I used to hear the same complaints in Thailand and I told them all the same thing, "If you want to live here, and are so put out by outages, break down and stay in a place with a generator, or rent a house, and buy a decent generator and what it takes to set it up." Problem solved. The only people I have seen happy working here, are usually kids working as teachers, or people working for companies from outside SEA. It is also so very cheap to live in most places here, almost anyone can live nice on a budget if they are retired.
Best bet, stop complaining or go back home.

Not even a thought about how its fucking the economy and the lives of millions of Cambodians over.
Problem with a lot of expats is they don't think about this, to absorbed in their own little self-sufficient bubble.
It's a mindset encouraged by the most hardline Republicans, as it suits the top 2%, basically anybody that thinks about helping the less fortunate or using taxes for an ethical purpose is a commie or a socialist.
I'm OK, fuck everyone else.
Another point: do you think the guesthouse owner can afford a generator? Many can, but they don't have one. These are the people you should be criticising, not a guest who dares to think he should have electricity. Pretty sure you would whine if your hotel in southern Mississippi didn't have 'lectric.
The complainers aren't asking for beluga caviar, electricity is a basic, the old line 'it's a poor country' doesn't was anymore, and the war was ages ago. Vietnam has done very well in recovering, Cambodia not so much.
If people don't complain, do you think it will be fixed? Rhetorical.

If you are so unhappy, rather than complaining so much and trying to make other's lives unhappy hearing you, better to go home or to Vietnam and find something to complain of there. I have found most people that complain will do it wherever they are.vladimir wrote: ↑Tue May 07, 2019 6:37 amNot even a thought about how its fucking the economy and the lives of millions of Cambodians over.

And as always, it's back to American politics. If the electric is off sometimes in Cambodia it must be Trump's fault. Pretty see through by now don't you think?
If my hotel in wherever I am doesn't have electric now and then, I will either move, or find a way to live with it.
There are plenty of places in Cambodia that have generators.
If you think you can make change by complaining about it, especially in Cambodia I would be very interested in seeing the results.

Well, now you come to mention it, Cambodian governments haven't shied away from blaming the US before. And while we are at it, I am quite surprised a lot of members here didn't blame Rainsy for the power fuckup as they seem to blame him for everything else.Johnsell50 wrote: ↑Tue May 07, 2019 6:50 amvladimir wrote: ↑Tue May 07, 2019 6:37 amNot even a thought about how its fucking the economy and the lives of millions of Cambodians over.

I don't think Rainsy will be back anytime soon, so all they can do is complain. Americans are getting quite used to being blamed for all the trouble in the world, and never praised for the good they do. Personally, I wish they would never send another $ to any country for aid. It would be much better for the people of those countries to send food/goods/services instead of money. It would aslo be better for America.

I don't honestly think the complainers will ever stop. I think it is in their genes. And, usually, their complaints never make it to anyone who could change it if they would.

You're really dense if you think I was blaming Trump. Your thinking is your responsibility.I used the America context because you're American. Unfortunately you didn't
get it, quel surprise.Show me people who DON'T complain when there's no water. You understand that no water is often a result of no power, right? My complaining will do nothing. Citizens complaining will. You seem to be completely unaware of how many Khmer are angry about this. Where do you suggest THEY move?

Right at this moment in the good ole U.S of A, the most powerful man in the universe is suing his own personal banks (who lent him billions of dollars when nobody else would), because these said banks are handing over his account details to the authorities, which they are legally obliged to do.
Anyway, cant you guys get one of those battery powered hand fans to help you cool down abit?

The Khmers can complain, and if enough of them do maybe something will get done about it, and if that doesn't happen, maybe enough can get together and change the government, that is how things work. Barangs complaining isn't going to do much until/unless the government believes there is enough money in tourism, and that enough barangs are being effected by it. Most can afford places with generators so I doubt that will happen.
I understood quite well you were talking about America,. It seems everything wrong with the world is their fault, at least to some. I just enjoy poking the bear.

Yes, English grammar is the only grammar that matters. Ask Playboy.
