It's what put Gary Glitter back behind bars:nerdlinger wrote: ↑Sat Jul 01, 2023 7:35 pmGenuinely not seeing the problem here. Yes, the dude needs to do his banking the old-fashioned way. He’ll need to use the telephone to contact people. And yes, he can only play Bejewelled instead of Candy Crush.ផោមក្លិនស្អុយ wrote: ↑Sat Jul 01, 2023 11:42 amProhibited from accessing the internet?
How would that work, practically?
Is he not allowed a smartphone? He can’t use email? Internet banking? Online shopping? Candy Crush?
I understand the motives behind the restrictions. But is it practical to ban someone from using something so ubiquitous and almost necessary for life?
Disgraced pop star Gary Glitter was thrown back into prison yesterday (March 13) after it was reported he breached bail conditions by using his smartphone and asking about the Dark Web. The 78-year-old paedophile, who has only been out of prison for six weeks, was allegedly recorded saying he wants to find "the Onion" - a slang term for the Dark Web.
As reported by DorsetLive, Glitter, whose real name is Paul Gadd, had been released from HMP The Verne - a category C jail in Dorset - following eight years behind bars for sexually abusing three school girls. He served half of his 16-year fixed-term determinate sentence.
Following his release, Glitter was fitted with a GPS tag and closely monitored by police and probation officers. However, justice chiefs have now decided his use of the phone breached conditions of his bail.
