@slavedog - Agreed. Not strung out, for the record. Would simply admit if that was the case. No hard stuff involved. It was simply severe stress and sleep deprivation from the tedious bus ride from Siem Reap to Phnom Penh, and then no time/energy to find a decent guesthouse, almost zero sleep (even though I tried), etc.
Your friend called "I". :-D

Just to use my "advanced diplomacy skills" to counter the new round of jabs since I last logged in to the fun-house:

That is, 2-3 weeks of 80-100 km, then stay in a small town for several days, etc. My friend has like 100kg of stuff on the bike. A 300 km over a few days would not be prudent.

That is pure bullshit as the frame or racks would break with that amount of weight especially if it is not a custom made touring bike. If one had a trailer hen it would be possible but otherwise no way.
I normally carry about 30k and anything above 35k is hard and the bike becomes unstable. I did meet a guy in Ecuador who had front n rear panniers and a trailer and he reckoned he was carrying/pulling about 60k. On flats no problem, downhills dangerous and uphills he really struggled.

No chance Jack, I never heard of Jewsbury, besides I don't have friends, only acquaintances.
I like how sometimes, not often, a 'new' poster signs up here and goes on a posting spree. The best one (who's name escapes me) was about 18 months ago . Reached 45? 50 pages in 4 days,...then he vanished.
He was respectful , maybe ruffled a few feathers here, like Mr, Pants.

I, for one enjoy these ''special guests''

Mr. Pants,

You're not, by chance, related to the great Sir Pants? A nephew or an uncle, perhaps?

Oops! That was supposed to be 100 lbs. My friend has problems with numbers/measurements.

<@Lucky Lucan

Your friend called "I".>

And pronouns.

There is a proper name for the disorder, but my friend also has memory issues.

^^ 100lbs is about 45kilos and I still call bullshit as my bike is fully loaded. Both racks ( front and back ) have panniers plus a duffle style bag on top of the racks. As I said the weight is usually about 30k this includes two panniers of clothing - on top of front rack my tent n sleeping bag. Back rack on top yoga mat shoes, mozzie net n inflatable mattress, back left pannier is my kitchen, cooking equipment, spices, fuel n food, back right - bathroom n office n bits and bobs, saddle bag tools, handlebar bag - tablet for maps plus a knife and on the road snacks. Add water bottles another 3 or 5 k scattered around the frame and extra food scattered around the panniers and that takes it up to 35k max 38k.
What are you carrying that weighs another 10k and where do you put it?

And this what fully loaded looks like. I have tried carrying more on top of the two front panniers such as extra water or dry food/ tins when wild camping but the bike be omes unstable.

Spare tyre is/ was that brown thing on the back rack but as I have just aquired a pair of bullet proof tyres from Schwable no longer need to carry a spare for a year at least. Broken spokes, buckled rims only occur from carring too much weight over crap ground another reason why I call bullshit on the OP.
My biggest problems were all due to rain, handlebar turned to dust, seat posts got stuck, gearlevers turned to dust as well. Frame is steel n steel is real but the aluminium parts don't last.
