Cambodia News English: What a Great Site.
Not sure why you’re laughing Gibbon. It certainly has sponsors listed.
Either way it deserves to have some financial success. The guy running it puts more effort into it than Migs and Gonk combined.

Why are people so angry at others that put in an effort to succeed
And then after putting in that effort - succeed in what the do.
K440 has it's trolls and grubs,
Posters that only feed on the negative comment,
They are unable to accept the positive points in life.
WTF is up with you Nomeog
Why do you choose to slag off another site just to score points against a past owner of this site.
If you want to have a boxing match with Dallow,
Just open up your own thread.
Fucking Sand Pit Cry Baby.

I refuse to go out with nothing more than a whimper followed by a small farting sound and a shit stain on my bed sheets..
Just thought I'd share that with you.

To be honest, that still doesn't add up to that much effort.
More importantly, why all the secrecy and subterfuge about the owner?
Why can't / doesn't he use his old 440 handle? What's the hubbub?
And even more importantly, I've still got a prepaid balance of $42.10, on yet to be delivered quail eggs that is now 3 weeks in arrears.
What do you all suggest I do about that?!?

Before we get too congratulatory, let’s take a step and consider the number of laws that they’re breaking.
CNE is a great source for news for us expats, I’m not slagging that. But, what seems to have started out as just translating local sources by scouring Facebook and local sites, seems to have transformed into a glorified RSS feed for Cambodia. I hope they continue to translate stories, but they should stop publishing full articles from Reuters, etc. Putting “By Mark Jacobson”, reprinting an entire article, then a link to the original at the end, is still copyright infringement and stealing of intellectual property. Profiting from it is a second offense.
And, I would think, translating articles in full would also qualify, though I doubt anyone cares much.

Bayon Pearnik did it for 20 odd years.
pew, pew, pew, pew!
Most Cambodia Daily articles were copied from other newspapers and they were "an NGO" issuing "a newsletter".
I am not so sure that CNE are breaking copyright law. I think it constitutes as fair use. Have you sent them a DMCA takedown request? You need to do that, and they need to refuse, before you have a copyright case.
If they put a watermark on it and touted it as their own hiding the original source, however...
Anyway, I'm pretty sure that it would be considered defamation to claim that CNE breaks the law when it doesn't. Just to illustrate how silly this is.

Agreed. Surely as long as you attribute something it is ethical/legal? Otherwise virtually every academic paper ever written would be in breach of copyright as well as guilty of plagiarism.
When the Financial Times writes: According to IMF research and then proceeds to print their own version of it or copy it directly are they in breach of copyright? True they probably need a paid subscription to access that research. Dunno.

Even if I were inclined to follow you there (and I'm not sure that I am), the number of laws that they're breaking is completely irrelevant.Wayward Woods wrote: ↑Sat Jul 06, 2019 4:02 pmBefore we get too congratulatory, let’s take a step and consider the number of laws that they’re breaking.

The last five times that CNE has appeared in my FB feed and had an article there has been no source.
At least Gonk is a forum, this is a news site that is not registered with the government blatantly plagiarizing others’ articles. It boggles the mind how you lot, that will castrate anyone, are defending its actions.

There's a source link right there under the blue link that says "SOURCE"Wayward Woods wrote: ↑Tue Jul 16, 2019 8:32 pmThe last five times that CNE has appeared in my FB feed and had an article there has been no source.

Ok, touché, I missed that.
I still contest it’s plagiarizing, what is your opinion?
And did I miss the “source” link on this one?

It’s a news aggregator, pulling in and circulating news stories that already exist into a new channel. It’s no different from, say, a 440 thread which features a translated news story. Or a tweeter circulating a story.
Registered with the government my arse. Have a look in the mirror son.

The mirror?
Listen I said that the site is good, but that doesn’t mean it’s without flaws. Did I miss the source again? Why is everyone ignoring this?
