You saw Sihanoukville when in it's halcyon days, when there was just the odd person getting murdered nearby. There's a good reason we were calling it "Shitsville" long before the recent Chinese invasion. It was better before SHV was sold to the Chinese.
I don't see many accidents anymore, there is so much traffic in the capital that it's hard for anyone to drive fast now. It's inevitable that with improved road surfaces and more wealth there will be more drivers going faster, but they decided against keeping potholes. It's also much better in that UXO/ mine accidents/ grenade attacks have declined sharply, more progress. It was better before traffic picked up so much that car accidents dramatically increased.
The youth are influenced by many cultures. They tend to like Khmer pop, K pop and some English songs, often the sentimental ballads. Of course there is Khmer rap and a lot of people like Post Malone etc but there is very little of that "gangsta" style that Khmerican deportees seem to go for. I'm not sure what it is you believe the youth have picked up from western culture, it can't be any worse than the violent past they are doing their best to get past.It was better before the youth began picking up Western culture.
