Oh Christ. Julius Streicher is at it again.
You seem to mix that up with the Senate. I think the Electoral College was a great idea at the time it was invented. In this day and age, however, there's no justification for it anymore. One of the downsides of having a Constitution that is quite old and hard to amend (there are obviously upsides, too).

Confusion between the Senate and Congress.
Congress is the Electoral College with 538 self opinionated pigs with their snouts in the trough and the Senate has 2 self opinionated pigs per State regardless of size or population.
There must be a better way?

I like the Constitution and the Electoral College, they prevent flavor of the month voting. This is especially important now because social media has the ability to get the masses to tilt at windmills with a single meme. I don't want society lurching around like that.Alex wrote: ↑Fri Jul 26, 2019 4:37 pmYou seem to mix that up with the Senate. I find it sad that main stream media has become so biased (in the UK as well) that people have to resort to social media.Felgerkarb wrote: ↑Fri Jul 26, 2019 5:49 pmI like the Constitution and the Electoral College, they prevent flavor of the month voting. What ever happened to reporting news rather than creating news?

Agreed. Seems to be a confusion between opinion and facts.TheGrimReaper wrote: ↑Fri Jul 26, 2019 5:58 pmI find it sad that main stream media has become so biased (in the UK as well) that people have to resort to social media.Felgerkarb wrote: ↑Fri Jul 26, 2019 5:49 pmI like the Constitution and the Electoral College, they prevent flavor of the month voting. Well said. Funny how people only consider eliminating the Electoral College when someone they dislike gets elected.Felgerkarb wrote: ↑Fri Jul 26, 2019 5:49 pm

Not bein a dick, Felger, but how you want society to lurch around. The electoral college is as bad as what is happening in UK.Felgerkarb wrote: ↑Fri Jul 26, 2019 5:49 pmI like the Constitution and the Electoral College, they prevent flavor of the month voting. Social media does have a big impact, but people make up their own minds. The ones that vote that is.

Going out on limb here and agreeing with you but taking it one stage further.batshitcrazyweirdo wrote: ↑Fri Jul 26, 2019 6:58 pmNot bein a dick, Felger, but how you want society to lurch around. The electoral college is as bad as what is happening in UK.

Quiet a large proportion of the ones that vote are brain dead morons.
Every household in the country was sent a copy of Cameron's disastrous deal with the EU in which he said the referendum was for his agreed deal or simply to come out. This was covered on all TV news shows and the media.
Yet, fast froward and you see remainers screaming out that they were never told we would have a no deal Brexit. Parliament in complete denial over a no deal Brexit.
It was stay in with Cameron's deal or come out without a deal from day 1. The country voted out and no one, no one can say they were not told it would be a no deal.
Voters? there should be a compulsory written test about the state of the country and political parties before anyone is allowed to have the right to vote. (or perhaps we could go back to houses with windows).

Apart from your blatant racism, what is wrong with members of a ruling party choosing their leader?Miguelito wrote: ↑Thu Jul 25, 2019 5:29 amHe himself says he is going as a member of European Parliament to speak on behalf of Sam Rainsy:Dallow Spicer wrote: ↑Thu Jul 25, 2019 12:50 am
Where does it say they are acting on behalf of the EU?
MEPs, MPs, US Reps and their like get involved in causes they believe in all the time. That doesn’t necessarily mean it is official policy is the body they serve on.
And I just find it hypocritical that at every point his argument is based on “democracy”, and even in that statement he points out “elected member”, when he does not come from a democracy and his own country just appointed a PM with 92,000 elderly white guys deciding for the entire UK.Phil Bennion, a representative to the EU from the U.K. and one of those placed on the list, said “It does not cast a good light upon the government of HE in Cambodia, that it seeks to exclude elected European Parliamentarians for speaking up on behalf of the banned opposition.”
“It is more likely to reinforce the views in democratic countries across the world that Cambodia has retreated from multi-party democracy and respect for human rights,” Bennion said, writing in an email to RFA’s Khmer Service.
But it’s pretty much a moot point, he has three months left in the EU parliament anyways. Perhaps he could spend that time better campaigning for his own country’s future.
Apart from that, a member of the EU parliament is not much different then a US congressperson or senator, does AOC speak for the US everytime she talks nonsense about foreign politics?
None but ourselves can free our mind.

No need to be racist and make a statement about 92,000 elderly white guys. That is uncalled for.Miguelito wrote: ↑Thu Jul 25, 2019 5:29 amAnd I just find it hypocritical that at every point his argument is based on “democracy”, and even in that statement he points out “elected member”, when he does not come from a democracy and his own country just appointed a PM with 92,000 elderly white guys deciding for the entire UK.

My daughter voted for Boris and she is 43 and mixed Eurasian blood.
There is not a single country in the whole world where true democracy reigns. Just corrupted views. The phrase "Vote early, vote often" comes to mind which is prevalent in many countries.
