They're losing the plot on TOF
I'm not sure what is happening. On my work laptop the URL indicates no https, but on my iphone the URL has it.
Also, the layout of the ads at the top seems to have shifted, or am i imagining it?

Both are supported currently. Your laptop most likely has the plain HTTP in its history and is loading then page from there while your iPhone defaults to HTTPS.Dallow Spicer wrote: ↑Tue Jan 14, 2020 7:54 pmI'm not sure what is happening. Later HTTPS will be default and HTTP disallowed completely, I guess. Probably when everything has been verified working and there’s no need to support plain HTTP anymore.

That's exactly what Pieman posted before he came looking for you...
What is your timetable on sorting it?Alexandra wrote: ↑Tue Jan 14, 2020 8:46 pmBoth are supported currently. Chrome is showing me "https" however it is in red font with a strikethrough. I have also had to go through the extra steps of accessing the site in Chrome where you click "advanced" in order to proceed to this site.

I’m not involved. This shit show is all on Buscador. The website is down now again and inaccessible to users. I’m finding it very irritating.
Since my public revelation of my interest to purchase over a week ago, the website has been inaccessible for two days and I still don’t own the damn thing.
This was not on me, other than having used a very highly regarded third party service for certain things, and discovering that their configuration caused massive problems with our site. I have spent three days working with their tech support team to solve what should have never been an issue in the first place, and as soon as the problem was escalated to their developers it was fixed within 30 minutes. At least, it is supposed to be solved. I'm still checking every variable I can think of.
The website has never been truly inaccessible, other than possibly for a few minutes at a time, but I can't blame anyone for not knowing when or even how to clear their browser cache or refusing to bypass a warning about a security risk.

You don’t post much but when you do it’s really, really interesting.
pew, pew, pew, pew!
Most mobile browsers don’t give the option to, for example Safari on iPhone. There might be a way to force around it but there is no button to press like on desktops. I assume most traffic is from mobile users at this point. Frankly, users won’t do that. If the website requires extra steps to access then it is plain and simply broken.
It seems there are always massive configuration problems involved yet somehow other sites can add HTTPS to their php sites with ease.
phpBB is hard to upgrade due to configuration problems. HTTPS is hard to install due to configuration problems. Third parties don’t work because of configuration problems.
No offense, but I always thought these WordPress and phpBB type sites are easy to maintain with their one click solutions targeting the masses. You’re a hardcore Linux user but CEO runs smoothly on the retainer of a Bangladeshi Google copy paste fanatic.
I have to use an alternative domain to post this reply because the website became inaccessible again while I write...
Hi Alexandra. You are entitled to your opinion--and from our previous conversations in a much friendlier time I know that you are a competent developer--but you never seem to be willing to consider the fact that there are things about a situation you don't know. WordPress sites are indeed usually very easy to maintain. No idea where you got the idea that phpBB has "one click solutions" although it is certainly improved compared to previous years. It is not like trying to maintain a custom built CMS or the like, but it is certainly not one click in most cases.. As far as CEO running smoothly, the stories I have heard from Gonk, at least about the early days of the outsourced tech support, suggest that this was most certainly not always true.
I have no idea why the site went down why you were typing. I told the tech support team I was dealing with that I was going to test out their fix, so I would have really thought they would not make additional changes.

I have never had this much problems installing HTTPS and I have done it many times, as you can imagine.
I guess we will have to agree to disagree. My opinion being that it is and should be easy, and yours being that it is not, for some unknown reason that doesn’t seem to affect others with the same popular website setup.
WordPress, phpBB and HTTPS is pretty much a de facto standard combination, don’t you agree? They are well used and popular technologies that have been around for a long time and using them is well documented. I can only assume that was why you chose to use them in the first place. Because they are easy to install and maintain.
Neither have I. It usually takes less than an hour, including setting up HSTS and redirecting all traffic to HTTPS. Sometimes it takes a lot less. The problems I kept encountering with this site are why it took until now to set up. I assumed I was doing something wrong due to some obscure factor. It turned out to be a problem in another service which has not and probably never will be explained to me. Nothing about my configuration had to be changed.
