People on and off the forums speak of these among the weak
Liberal
Gen z
Depressed (with zero regard for what contributes)
Emotional and passionate
The strong includes
Unemotional
Ex service people
Right wing
Non liberal
I can accept that in some cases that type of strength may be required
But
The world has changed and with the changes comes a different view of what strong/fit is
Australia just uploaded the details of all licence holders in one state to a facial recognition database. The rest to follow.
One benefit is crime solving ( not sure it deters and it doesn’t yet permit real time intervention) and ability to track people of interest.
The other touted benefit is personalised shopping and advertising experiences.- convenience.
I truly believe this path does not end well. Government, billionaires and hackers will control the lives of the masses, who will be nothing but ants and worker bees, seduced to accept the situation by talk of protection, special attention and convenience.
I do not see how accepting this is strong or fit. But how do people rebel once the technology exists? Especially if not done in a country you have citizenship?
I always used to want to somehow live on forever to see what happens to human beings and the world, however that is no longer the case. I don’t want to know. I don’t like what is happening with facial recognition, walk (gait) recognition, voice printing etc. I HATE it. Trapped like an insect in a specimen jar. If survival of the fittest is interpreted as accepting this fate, I am happy among the weak. This is not a world I want to be part of.
And, to my final sentence, will be cries of leave- kill yourself or we’ll do it for you... heck, we can even make money off it by charging people to participate in the hunt, live streaming on the dark net and taking bets on various outcomes during the hunt.
....
And this type of insight into the world is what really triggered depression in me decades ago.
I am not in control of my life. Those who feel in control by including the discipline of exercise are not in control of their lives. A handful of if powerful people are in control.
Paranoia?
No.
Insight and foresight.
The majority won’t care.
They stay present to try to have happiness.... this is the friend to those in power. People who can only cope by being in the now. Seeing the future is where power lies.... but even so, it seems too late. They have us trapped.
What’s the answer? Overthrow governments worldwide in random and somehow destroy the cameras? But technology can’t be rolled back. The internet’s can’t be disappeared. Too late. Our fate.
It feels so surreal
I hate feeling powerless/helpless with my fate determined by others
What does it mean to be the fittest/strongest when we speak of survival?

And if now there is no chance to alter the course of our fate, was there ever a chance? At what point could we have acted differently, made different choices, so as not to find ourselves on this path?

And readers will yawn, chuckle, spout I think too much, say ‘she always was crazy’
And so it all unfolds
And so it all unfolds

Do you think that if hackers were to get their hands on these facial recognition databases, they could compare the facial images with all the porn that exists in the internet and match the facial images?violet wrote: ↑Wed Sep 18, 2019 7:26 amAustralia just uploaded the details of all licence holders in one state to a facial recognition database. I imagine there would be huge potential to blackmail people who 'anonymously' did porn years ago and now have 'normal' jobs and respectable lives.

It really isn’t limited to only that type of behaviour.
Deep fakes
Stalking and abuse of (ex) partners - on steroids
Creating code that maps the info of one person to another creating a shield (if, then)
And it is all data, not just facial.
Limitless possibilities.
The Australian government are collaborating with business and families on the cyber security strategy... holding conferences (free) and inviting written opinion- yet they went ahead and did this without consultation.
I know how I read that.

Mate, this has been a giant leap. Hold onto your hats/toupees/kramas.
Changes will be at Rocket speed now.

The original meaning of "survival of the fittest" (which is where I think you're coming from) does not refer to fitness or strength, it refers to the "best fit" as in put in a round peg in a circle. It's about adaption to your environment. Similar to whoever has that tag/quote "In a nation run by swine, all pigs are upwardly mobile".
It has nothing to do with being left or right or traditional versus modern ideas about strength. It is: adapt or die. Can you apply any of the theory behind evolution to humans in a world run by conscious human beings rapidly and intentionally creating change and complex social systems? I think it would be a mistake.

When a superbug spreads around the world, billions died, those alive didn't trust others as they might be infected. its survival of the clever.

When the zombie apocalypse comes, anyone who hasn't been watching Bear Grylls & Man vs Wild, doesn't own an AR15 with a small shed of ammunition stock, a few reserve guns like an uzi 9mm, mini-gun, a pistol or two, a shotgun, some hand grenades, doesn't own a Croc Dundee knife, has never "gone commando" and has ever set foot in Ballsack Lane is going to have a bad day.
But I could be wrong.

If you see my intro words I say others say those things are indiv actors if strength, and they say that millennials and liberals will be our downfall. Not my words.1984 wrote: ↑Wed Sep 18, 2019 9:36 amThe original meaning of "survival of the fittest" (which is where I think you're coming from) does not refer to fitness or strength, it refers to the "best fit" as in put in a round peg in a circle. What does it mean to adapt or die? Who is adapting to whom/what?
Those holding power have different things to adapt to.
