And both perished. Should have stung him when they reached dry land.kinard wrote: ↑Thu Nov 14, 2019 7:48 amNot sure this is about being 'morally perfect', and I do admire your optimism, however, giving haters the benefit of the doubt is folly.
The scorpion asks the frog to take him across the river on his back, but the frog says he thinks the scorpion will sting him and so says no. The scorpion asks but why would i do such a thing as i would perish too. The scorpion eventually persuades the frog to oblige and they set off.
During the crossing the scorpion stings the frog, and he asks the scorpion why he had stung him. The scorpion replies, because it is in my nature.

Wait a mo,
Are you saying the frog symbolises the poor and downtrodden and the Scorpion symbolises the silver-spooned rich? I would have said, no. As the wealthy have nearly always been able to stich the poor up at a whim, without too many come backs.
But seeing as we may in fact be talking in the context of neo liberal free market capitalism and environmental crisis, I would have to say, yes.
I have always thought the wealthy were intent on destruction of not just the poor, but also, unknowingly, themselves.
They certainly appear to me to be, holistically speaking, super-rich AND super-thick. As a prostitute once said, " in my experience, I have seen no correlation whatsoever between wealth and intelligence."
So, if not intelligence, what quality defines wealth?

Well, as a start, how do you define a wealthy person?kungfufighter wrote: ↑Thu Nov 14, 2019 2:54 pmWait a mo,

Wealthy people obviously have wealth, duh.
But what quality, if not intelligence, enabled them to get it?
Is that they are just very very good shoplifters? Or does it help to be an extremely good pickpocket too?

I would have said hard work and focus, for starters, but you seem to be convinced there must inevitably be some dark side to anybody who's not living like a hermit.kungfufighter wrote: ↑Thu Nov 14, 2019 3:36 pmWealthy people obviously have wealth, duh.

A degree of ruthlessness helps, so fucking what.

Obviously some wealthy people come from very wealthy families, but not all do. I've had friends from very wealthy families whose parents gave them as little as possible. They've done okay since but much on their own.
The wealthy people I know or have known generally have a huge amount of discipline and focus. They also tend to be able to see bigger pictures as such, so find opportunities that elude us mere peasants.

I’d be interested in kff’s answer to the Pelican’s question. It’s a fatuous discussion unless you agree what ‘wealthy’ means.

It could be $1.25 or less.

KFF hasn't realized that intersectionality has replaced the class wars. The working class failed to start the revolution and have been relegated, replaced by "minorities'' in the new hierarchy of oppression.

No 2. Integrity
Nigel Farage said:
They then tried something that borders on corruption. Repeatedly, it’s been suggested to me that I might like a seat in the House of Lords so I can go quietly. Every time this gets said my answer is the same: I’m not for sale. I’m not interested.
Knowing they couldn’t buy me off, there was a concerted attempt from people who work deep inside No 10 Downing Street – and I’m not blaming Boris for this, I don’t believe he would be part of this but it shows you the calibre of people he’s got around him, the culture that exists in Westminster.
He bypassed me and went to other senior figures in the Brexit party suggesting that eight of them could go in the House of Lords and all they had to do was come to Nigel and convince him to stand down in a whole load more marginal seats. As you can imagine, I said I do not want, and will never have anything to do with, this kind of behaviour.
