Why should he take advice from Dr. Peterson when the good doctor recently checked himself into a rehab program for a drug problem? Dr. Peterson has also broken down crying in several interviews because he claims that people on the internet say mean things about him. He is clearly deranged.Pecahead wrote: ↑Wed Nov 06, 2019 7:52 amMate--you need to finish your shift at the restaurant, go back to your ratchet apartment, fire up YT and watch Dr. Jordan B. Peterson videos for a few hours or days (or weeks). Take responsibility for your situation, put your head down, work hard, and reevaluate after a few months when you (hopefully) have some small savings. Cambodia is no panacea for people in your situation, as your already know!

I had no idea why this thread took such a morbid turn, I thought it was a new poster. Then I did a post search, and holy fuck, this guy needs to get his head together. Why on earth this guy wants to come back here is beyond me, but then anything has to be better than Philadelphia. Maybe he should try moving to Baltimore?
Romantic Cambodia is dead and gone. It's with McKinley in the grave.

I stand by my prediction. A year. Tops.
Yawn. Only a giant douche goes on and brags at how many people he knows there that have died. Next you'll tell us how long you lived in Cambodia and how well you know the country, and throw in some noncey shit about your "missus". DS is a douche that ruined the site and you knowing a lot of people that died doesn't change that.LaudJohn wrote: ↑Fri Nov 08, 2019 5:52 pmIt is a horrible thing to hear if you are an entitled millennial snowflake.backhome wrote: ↑Fri Nov 08, 2019 3:42 amI think that is a horrible thing to say and am glad I never had the misfortune of knowing you.Dallow Spicer wrote: ↑Thu Nov 07, 2019 7:10 pmI predict the OP will be dead within a year of returning to Phnom Penh.
To those who are older and have been around Cambodia a while it is a pretty accurate outcome.
I myself have personally known probably north of 120 people who I have met in Cambodia who are now dead.
Many came, could not handle the lifestyle and the lack of a safety net and ended up just as DS predicts.
As for being glad you never met DS, well you are the loser there. A more grounded and sensible person who calls it like he sees it is hard to meet. But such people are hard for snowflakes to handle.
I think that is a horrible thing to say and I’m glad I never had the misfortune of knowing you.

Behave he is expat mark 1 and was here in 2002 or there abouts. I remember when Scooby/ Shallow Spice joined the forum ( b4 he brought it and destroyed it ) and complained about online bully from some of the better educated and more knowledgeable posters. Snowflake name calling, behave.
Don't rememeber that, must have been drunk, but there was a time for many years when the back spasms were so bad ( btw my spine is actually bent n twisted as a result ) that suicide was on my mind. However, there was also time when I asked for help for a friend who was suicidal and the 440 community was fantastic and probably saved a man's life.
Talking of snowflakes, aren’t you the poster who once whiningly posted in the middle of the night asking for advice on how to kill himself because he had a bad back?
Know thyself suicidal cyclist.
k440, something to do when you're pissed.

Maybe he's a 'nice guy' in real life but this time back posting he's acting like a right c*nt! It's almost as if he's trying to finish what he started - killing the site.

That's par for the course for anyone with interests in hospitality in coastal areas.

I love this notion that I killed the site. Let’s state a few facts:
1) during my ownership the site had consistently more people online than at any time in its history, before or since. We always had 1200-1500 on, much more than CEO who ‘boosted’ their numbers by changing their settings to measure it over a six hour period.
2) it had more active posters and more posts. We averaged around 250- 300 posts a day. Now it’s lucky to get 50 and that’s only if Jep and Batty aren’t banned.
3)I maintained a regular record of 2-3 front page articles per month, more than KIR and certainly more than currently appear. When was the last one published? Six months ago?
4) for the first and only time in its history it was a commercial success, with profits being made every month and shared between all shareholders religiously. Ask PB how many times he saw profits from KiR (answer: Never) and how regularly he gets a share these days.
5) I sold the site nearly three years ago. If I’m responsible for killing it, how come it hasn’t recovered in that time?
There is a reason 440 is no longer engaging. It’s because unlike the cultists on CEO who are emotionally invested in their site and jabber like monkeys about anything, 440 members are lazy, sit back and want to entertained, rather than make an effort to contribute themselves.
A couple of months ago a handful of old time posters made a conscious effort to kick things into action again - because god knows nobody else does - by posting more and starting more threads. It didn’t last long. One of those who made the effort was soon banned by a mod and hasn’t bothered returning.
But at least he tried. Which is more than can be said for 95 percent of posters here, including yourself.
And - final point- if I’m a cunt now it’s because I now have the freedom to express myself more freely than before. I’m free to say exactly what I think, rather than what I felt I should say as the majority shareholder.
If you don’t like it, put me on ignore. And stop the fucking whining.

Why are you being such a negative Nancy. I had my own apartment, blended in with the people once my skin because darker from the sun. I was cooking my own Asian foods to save a little. It's not like I'm entirely naive about the situation in PP.Dallow Spicer wrote: ↑Fri Nov 08, 2019 3:24 pmbackhome wrote: ↑Fri Nov 08, 2019 3:42 amI think that is a horrible thing to say and am glad I never had the misfortune of knowing you.Dallow Spicer wrote: ↑Thu Nov 07, 2019 7:10 pmI predict the OP will be dead within a year of returning to Phnom Penh.

Is it that he reminds you of that part of yourself i wonder?

He wasn't "bragging" about knowing people who died. That's not something anyone brags about. He was commenting on DS's prediction that the OP will die and providing anecdotal evidence that in his experience a lot of Westerners who move to Cambodia die there. Many expats die before age 60, which is not very common in Western countries.
