Never. Maybe the occasional day couple of days side trip if I happen to be in SEA, but no more than that.spitthedog wrote: ↑Thu Nov 07, 2019 8:38 pmSo...erm...when are you heading back to the KOW to lead the life of leisure then sir?Dallow Spicer wrote: ↑Thu Nov 07, 2019 7:10 pmI predict the OP will be dead within a year of returning to Phnom Penh.
I think that is a horrible thing to say and am glad I never had the misfortune of knowing you.Dallow Spicer wrote: ↑Thu Nov 07, 2019 7:10 pmI predict the OP will be dead within a year of returning to Phnom Penh.
This reminds me of that 440 newbie chap who came on and was pretty unhinged and at least one member suggested he would turn up in a guest house dead in the short term.
From memory he OD'd in Top Banana or somewhere right on cue shortly thereafter.
Anyone ?

Believe in miracles, and stay as far away from street 172 as possible, and you might just have a chance.

Just read the whole thread, a classic. Some real hindsight in there for the taste of things to come.

Wow, looks like many posters there have continued their prodigal activities elsewhere on the interwebs, or even fallen to demise themselves. Time sure flies quickly, here in the postcolonial tropics.

It is a horrible thing to hear if you are an entitled millennial snowflake.backhome wrote: ↑Fri Nov 08, 2019 3:42 amI think that is a horrible thing to say and am glad I never had the misfortune of knowing you.Dallow Spicer wrote: ↑Thu Nov 07, 2019 7:10 pmI predict the OP will be dead within a year of returning to Phnom Penh.
To those who are older and have been around Cambodia a while it is a pretty accurate outcome.
I myself have personally known probably north of 120 people who I have met in Cambodia who are now dead.
Many came, could not handle the lifestyle and the lack of a safety net and ended up just as DS predicts.
As for being glad you never met DS, well you are the loser there. A more grounded and sensible person who calls it like he sees it is hard to meet. But such people are hard for snowflakes to handle.
Note to self: Must be nice to morons.
Make it more interesting by also predicting cause of death! What's it gonna be, an Aeon groceries OD?Dallow Spicer wrote: ↑Fri Nov 08, 2019 3:24 pmbackhome wrote: ↑Fri Nov 08, 2019 3:42 amI think that is a horrible thing to say and am glad I never had the misfortune of knowing you.Dallow Spicer wrote: ↑Thu Nov 07, 2019 7:10 pmI predict the OP will be dead within a year of returning to Phnom Penh.

Talking of snowflakes, aren’t you the poster who once whiningly posted in the middle of the night asking for advice on how to kill himself because he had a bad back?
Know thyself suicidal cyclist.
