Regarding embassies, we recently sent some products to a customer in Japan. The products were delivered to the hotel in Tokyo that our customer was due to stay in. It's a big hotel and somehow there was a bit of confusion when it came to the products finding our customer. Anyway, the hotel in Tokyo contacted the Japanese embassy in Phnom Penh, who in turn contacted us to help resolve the matter. All was sorted without much drama. The next day we had another call from the embassy just to follow up and check that the matter had been resolved to everyone's satisfaction, which it had been.
I was left astounded and impressed by the willingness of the embassy to get involved and wanting to simply help if they could.

That's a good result Slavedog. but you talk like the Embassy. is one person. lots of people feel the same. I think you just had a really really good staff member willing to go the extra yards to help you.
All my dealings with Embassy past is best conduced on Friday afternoon,.
Monday morning is a no no. and fingers crossed get a good case officer. All different.
Circa 1987. I was approached by a very well dressed Swiss man , in Bangkok, he was smuggling Thai girls to Australia, and as I hold an NZ passport, no visa required for me I was one of the chosen couriers ....i'll keep that adventure for another thread..

Seriously PSD_Kiwi? That’s the worst undercover disguise I’ve seen yet.
It’s like a westerner trying blend in at a bazaar in Mogadishu by growing a big bushy beard.

Allow me to do it for you.
One day I shoved three thai hookers and ladyboy up my ass. I flew home. Then I spent a week shitting them out. But the ladyboy liked it up there. He still resides in my butt to this day. I call him Steve and feed him carrots.

No, not just one staff member. They actually closed the embassy for all other business, postponed diplomatic engagements, cancelled all leave and hunkered down in the basement situation room and monitored events until given the all clear from Tokyo.
