Building collapse in Kep
On the road from Kep market to pagoda in the mountains. Big building under construction. "Several people die".

I'm surprised that they were even building a seven-story building in Kep, it's a while since I was there. Anyway, tragic and likely completely avoidable. I don't remember too many building collapses in the days before these mainlanders arrived en masse and started sticking up their crummy constructions.
Romantic Cambodia is dead and gone. It's with McKinley in the grave.

I'd hazzard a guess that the width of those support beams would normally be suitable for just a 2 story building.

Absolutely appalling. One can only imagine the current state of the French education system.
What a waste of life.

Up the workers!

I said the owner was Cambodian from France not that he was a France educated architect... Actually the problem is that afaik he never used any architect on any project of his.kungfufighter wrote: ↑Sun Jan 05, 2020 7:59 amAbsolutely appalling. I was wondering whether it was the owner or his developer/ project manager. I guess that confirms it was the former. I'm not entirely sure he went to school at all-anywhere. What kind of an incompetent idiot builds a 6 storey building without an architect!! And even more to the point: what kind of incompetent idiot allows him to build it!! Especially after another similar disaster only a few months before that also gained world media attention.Barang_doa_slae wrote: ↑Sun Jan 05, 2020 2:04 pmI said the owner was Cambodian from France not that he was a France educated architect... This government yet again shows its gross incompetence as it continues to back an archaic system which perpetrates such disasters by shuffling people in authority around rather than nailing them up as an example for everyone to see. And we all know why they do it.

Architect knows nothing about the stability of the building, it requires an engineer.kungfufighter wrote: ↑Sun Jan 05, 2020 2:21 pmWhat kind of an incompetent idiot builds a 6 storey building without an architect!!
