Hi everyone,
I'm planning to open a bar in Phnom Peng.I' m aware of the number of bars out there and the percentage of failure is high.
However, i live here for 5 years now and as an expat i really miss a bar with good music /60' s/70' s /80's Funk, pop, rock....
I love dancing but i m fed up of all these commercial shits we get in most of the Night clubs.
So, my idea is to open a Bar/tapas/wine..Great cocktails...with a little dance floor for people who like classical songs.
I' am a designer and i want to create a space like people are coming to a friend' s appartment rather than any of the bars we can find out there...
What do you think?
Thank you

How many friends do you have? They will be your first and perhaps only customers for a while, unless of course you are aiming at tourists and then you will probably fail within six months.
k440, something to do when you're pissed.
If you get robw's business you'll get Playboy's.
With those 2 as regulars several hours a day you get your fixed costs covered.
Champagne, delicate finger food and strawberry mojitos will draw Migs like a moth to a candle.
Throw in a couple pretty ladyboys and you won't be able to get rid of Ricecake and Pedros when they're in town.
A no brainer. Go for it

1. Put together an extremely well researched, detailed business plan.
2. Talk to others who are currently doing this type of business, or have in the past. You won't get useful information on the internet.
3. Learn why and how Cambodian landlords are able to break leases at anytime.
4. Don't just look at businesses that you believe are successful. I think the failures can teach you more.
5. You absolutely need at least 1 TRUSTWORTHY Khmer.
Good luck

60s, 70s, 80s music is everywhere...
Has to be to attract the 50-70 year olds...
Not sure how may of this age group are into dancing.
Creating a space like an apartment....sofas, coffee tables...Not sure what this means...
Too many bars to choose from now.... If making a profit isn't a priority... go for it... A nice little hobby I guess to meet old and new friends

You are thinking of the same old "classic rock" garbage they have been playing in SE-Asia since whenever. I use to quite enjoy the likes of CCR etc untill I came to Asia.patcan wrote: ↑Sun Feb 02, 2020 12:31 pm60s, 70s, 80s music is everywhere...

But where do you hear the Crusaders, Curtis Mayfield or anything made by Nile Rodgers?
How often do you hear the Smits, Police, Cure, Specials, Duran Duran or New Order?
Most places cater, music wise, to either a young or boomer crowd it seems.
None but ourselves can free our mind.

Worst idea ever in the entire history of the universe. And I'm not given to superlatives.
Up the workers!

I completely agree, unless your unequivocally trustworthy Cum-Eye owns the land and building. And if you have that much freakin money, you better absolutely love owning a bar. I am definitely "given to superlatives"! Sorry!kungfufighter wrote: ↑Mon Feb 03, 2020 7:09 amWorst idea ever in the entire history of the universe. And I'm not given to superlatives.
