Not sure what unit exactly they are, but the ones roaming at night, often two folks on a bike, machine guns, arm bands, checking locals at random, and just looking real mean in general. They were more rampant earlier, but still around, standing on various street corners. I try to pretend I don't notice, avoiding all eye contact, not that I have anything to hide. They just scary looking, ok? Royal Gendarmerie it must be then.Lucky Lucan wrote: ↑Thu Mar 12, 2020 5:02 pmWhy would you be scared of them unless you were an errant soldier? Maybe you mean the Royal Gendarmerie, of which the Military Police are just a small part? They are a heavy army unit, as are the Bodyguard Unit and 9-11. The Flying Tigers and Justice/ intervention police are pretty heavy too.
The scariest fucker you ever met in Cambodia.

You didn't hide that well. 10 minutes on the web and I deduced that you're referring to "the giant" that manages "the wolf" Hispanic restaurant.Khmu Nation wrote: ↑Thu Mar 12, 2020 3:00 pmAxxxe, Nha Trang, Vietnam. Owner of Ex Cxxxxe. Not posting his full name.
An ex French Foreign Legion special forces mixed race fellow (Vietnamese/French/Comanche) and alcoholic who would drink himself into a fury most nights. His tipple was Pastis.
He killed some Viet man in a road rage incident and put another two in hospital during the same incident whilst I knew him. I also saw him front up to a gang of Viets on motorbikes with a pool cue. About 18 of them. They all fucked off.
Legend in his own lunchtime. Could be quite engaging. Mostly bad tempered. Still in Nha Trang afaik
Was GG deported to Australia by the Vietnamese because they couldn’t understand what he was saying?
I was sitting on a bench on Riverside last Month. Suited and Booted western man-mid 50s, sober looking, so maybe not one of you guy's LOL, sits next to me. Opens a briefcase and puts a A4 brown envelope down next to me. I look at him and say, jokingly,
" If this is a drop you've found the wrong guy ", He grabs it and walks away staring aggressively. Scary, Question is................................

It is quite plausible
"UP to 80 per cent of Australians talk like a drunk person, even when they’re sober.
If you don’t believe me, think back to a conversation you may have had with one of your “Strayan” mates recently.
Maybe it was along the lines of “g’day, are ya gonna go for a sniddy ana bevo this arvo?”
Victoria University public speaking and communications tutor and lecturer Dean Frenkel has studied the Australian accent and has discovered an alcoholic slur introduced by early settlers is to blame for our demise.

This is beautiful writing.PSD_Kiwi wrote: ↑Thu Mar 12, 2020 5:10 pmLost his passport in Vietnam, managed to get a visa to Oz, now he's offering his services as a dog walker in Australia...The only scary thing about GG were his pies and his gut that hung down to his knees which he proudly displayed whenever out drinking by opening or taking off his shirt. Used to talk like a he was a right hard c**t, but he was just full of hot air and .50c drafts.

I met the Bulgarian ambassador once. He wasn't scary, but he told me his toughest job during Untac was writing letters to the many Bulgarian mothers whose soldier sons were killed in Cambodia. They all died in motorcycle accidents. That was scary.

His son was shot near Independence Monument one time, but he lived. He was quite a character.

Apparently some expat killed his dog by breaking its neck in front of everyone, but not the guy who told the story, obviously.

I would say those khmericans are quite scary, you don't see them in bars now but before some 15 years ago they hang around St 51, don't remember name for bar.
Pardon my engrish, thanks you.
