Just saw this on FB
1. From now on, for all foreigners in Cambodia, and especially in Siem Reap, you don’t need to have to work in tourism and you do not need to bring a license from the MOT and MOC and a support letter anymore. To apply for a 6 month Temple Pass you now only need a passport and a long term visa. That's great news!
2. Normally it took 1 week before you got the Temple Pass. Now this is also going to change. If you apply for a Temple Pass you will immediately receive the Temple Pass. You don't have to wait for a week anymore. That is good news again.
Only for foreigners who want to cycle through the forests of Angkor and do not want to visit the temples or if you want to have picnic lunch with your Cambodian family at the temples, you still need a Temple Pass. Even though you don't go to the temples. I have raised this issue as well, but they do not want to change this policy yet. Who knows maybe in the future.
In brief:
Where can I buy a temple pass?
Go to the normal ticket office and ask for the Angkor Enterprise office.
How much is it?
Half year Temple pass; $ 200 (there is no one year temple pass)
What should I bring?
Copy passport and a copy of your long stay visa. So you don't have to bring your working permit. You can bring a passport photo but if you don't have it they will take a photo on the spot.
How long does it take?
You will get the Temple pass immediately and you can go straight to the temples.
So, for all foreigners in Siem Reap, now this is your chance to go to Angkor for the next couple of months without tourists. You can't complain that there is a tourist in front of your camera every time. This is a unique opportunity so get a Temple Pass and go to the temples regularly.
Angkor 6 months pass now available
TBH: I did go there 17 years ago, for just part of a day and I still do not have any urge to go there again.
Though, that's maybe, because I am not that much into old stones.

I've managed to pass it for the last 18 years, I can't see six months making much difference.
Has the pm left the country yet?

The whole site is also great for running, biking, bird watching, pic0nic, etc. I think this is excellent news.

I'd get it if I lived nearby, as it is I'm usually only there about once a year. I'm not sure about some heathens who live here oblivious to the cultural history and surroundings.
Romantic Cambodia is dead and gone. It's with McKinley in the grave.
I'd love to be in SR right now, first time visited the temples in 00 on pushbike and remember seeing only 2 or 3 other tourists in Ankor Wat early morning, half the temples I visited I had completely to myself.
Came back in 18 and there were fences, walkways, people everywhere and a 1.5 hour line to climb Ankor Wat. That kinda spoiled the memories.

I am with Hanno n LL. Some of the most beautiful parts of Cambodia and excellent MT biking. One of the best rides I ever did in Cambodia was around the park and then cycling up on to the walls of Angkor Thom and getting right up close to all the figure heads was amazing, especially as we didn't have tickets at all. Fortunately my mate knew all the local paths and how to get around the barriers.
k440, something to do when you're pissed.
I wouldn't say it's a once in a lifetime thing, but once in 10 years sounds about right to me. Such a pass would be lost on me, I wonder how many takers they'll have.
