$50,000 health insurance needed....
I have health insurance but it is only good in the country where I live and work (not valid in Cambodia). I will visit Cambodia next month so I need to purchase a $50,000 policy. Anyone have any recommendations? Someone said that many of the policies for sale online will not cover COVID 19.
Do you have a visa already? If not, that might be an even bigger problem than insurance.
Theres a reason why the bar has been set so high.
Many countries dont want to go back to the high risk sexpat tourism and this is a once only golden opportunity to clean it up for good.
philippines, cambodia and indonesia would like nothing better than have all that foreign owned realestate and vehicles and bank accounts abandoned for the gov's to nationalise, after a while.

^ is 50, 000 dollar insurance high? That is not the cost but the coverage, is a health certificate high ? A reasonable request I think. Having to get a visa from an embassy , now that is high.

I always thought there were sexpats and there was sex tourism, and these were two completely different things.

Still waiting to hear from any expat who has managed to do this , visa, certificate n insurance. I know a few that are stranded n Vietnam, Laos n Thailand, myself in Spain and another in Zambia.
Borders are opening in Europe , kind of, some countries have restrictions some don't. In Spain from tomorrow I could travel anywhere around Andalucia. If the cunts hadn't stolen my bike I would have!
Seems SE Asia which has been less affected than most parts of the world is being much stricter!

This is why the guest function is annoying . A serious question asking for recommendations and total bollocks from the drugged out , Don't even live in Cambodia lot.

As previously discussed, the guest function has benefited this site greatly. That is not to say it doesn't have its drawbacks, such as a few weird guest replies and horace complaining about it on a daily basis. Despite drawbacks such as those, I believe we can forge ahead and I look forward to many more guest replies to come.

I see that the guest post has been removed. So perhaps someone else agrees with me . GMJS- 440 you are a wanker, always have been , always will be but at least you know that you are a wanker who is just trying to annoy people and we the people know that.

Not as if Cambodian customs is going to call the insurance company to check if the document that you're presenting is real. Just make something yourself.wolfcreek wrote: ↑Sun Jun 07, 2020 4:42 pmI have health insurance but it is only good in the country where I live and work (not valid in Cambodia). None but ourselves can free our mind.
The problems will most likely arise with the airline, they won't allow you onboard without the correct paperwork.
As with visas and return tickets, if there is any doubt, the check-in staff will refuse boarding.
I don't see insurance as much of a hurdle. The amount of coverage they ask for is very reasonable; my regular travel insurance has a lot more than this.
The only real issue is that you need to check if your insurance has exclusions for pandemics, traveling despite a travel warning, the likes. Worst case scenario, you buy one that meets the requirements.
It's the other requirements I'd be more worried about.

I don't think there are any insurance policies that cover you only for 50000. Even the quickie online travel ones seem to be a mill or so.
Alex's caveats are real though.
If you then don't need it for renewal as I've read somewhere you could just get a 30 day one to cover the duration of the first visa.....although I don't know if it's required for extending the initial one. What I read is it's not required for EOS on long-term ones.
Still think it's nuts not to have insurance unless you genuinely can't afford it. An accident could ruin you.

No insurance company will give you a certificate certifying you have a guarantee of us$50000 to cover you for coronovirus.
As another poster has alluded to, the government doesnt want the dross back.
They want responsible tourism.
Sexpats, deathpats and drosspats are not welcome.
