Car Decorations in the Kingdom
Expats from a certain era will recall when there were very few cars on the road here, and that those cars that were here were either antique Toyota Camrys or Toyota Lexus.
The Lexus drivers always had LEXUS stencilled on the sides of their vehicles in 18 inch high letters - added to make sure that everyone knew that it was a Lexus and not a Camry ...
Fast forward 15/20 years and we get a whole host of new stickers appearing on cars (of all makes and models now)
Here is one from earlier today
Anyone seen any other 'fun' additions ??

"We, the sons of John Company, have arrived"
Someone has Queen Sey in huge letters up the side of their car. I don't think they are Khmer. I wouldn't have Queen Cunt up the side of my bicycle.

That's probably an MB100 SsangYong Istana, a vehicle made during Mercedes 'partnership with the Korean company. The badge is legit.
Romantic Cambodia is dead and gone. It's with McKinley in the grave.
Intersting. It's probably as far from Stuttgart any 'real' Mercedes will ever get.

Yes, correct. That's a Ssangyong Istana. Other examples of the relationship around the era was the Ssangyong Chairman which was a Xerox of a W140 but actually shared a W210 platform and the Musso which had the M104 powerplant.
There are still some relations between the two. For example, the current Ssangyong Rexton has a 7G-Tronic Mercedes Benz gearbox.
In the service reception at the MB dealership the other day, I overheard a service advisor quoting some poor schmo 20 grand for a new gearbox.
I suggested to the service advisor that he refer the schmo to Ssangyong, who would obviously be able to procure and (probably) fit at a considerable discount.
"Oh, no you'd be surprised", said he with a smirk.
With a $280 per hour labour rate at MB, I somehow doubt it.
Good cars those modern Ssangyongs, btw - tough, frugal and reliable.
Haha - my money’s on Playboy
It's not that, with COVID19 nobody can afford to buy those brand new cars, ugraded to year {insert year here} bong, any longer!
