Flights to UK
Flights to UK
Trying to get my wife a flight from Phnom Penh to the U.K. return in August. If she goes from Phnom Penh it’s $2500.Flights from Bangkok or KL to U.K. return are about $700 so makes sense to book Air Asia to Bangkok or KL then separate flight to U.K.This would mean going through customs as opposed to transit.Anyone any experience recently?
There's still no set date for international flights from BKK , it could be in September. Thai airways can't confirm anything yet
Forget about KUL/BKK.
KUL transit is only allowed air-side in the main terminal (so not the to/from LCC one) and MH does not fly PNH-KUL.
BKK: Airspace Thailand is closed at the moment (except repatriation, etc), that could get relaxed a little after July 1, though still undecided AFAIK.
Land border between Cambodia and Thailand is still closed, except for some goods transports.
The option via ICN is effectively the only one. Though, it could very well be, KE/OZ are canceling flights again, with the Cambodian extortion scheme in place. Seat occupancy has gone down significantly on these flights.
If you have some patience, you might get lucky, starting end of July, with Cathay flying from PNH to HKG to LHR. Though HKG does have itchy transit rules and no option to go land-side for non-HKG people.

MH doesn’t fly PNH to KL? Is that a new thing? It used to fly regularly.
Flights resume from the 1st of July PP-KL

They stopped a while back. Something to do with the Chinese fake flu.
Clearly. That wasn’t my question.
I read v12’d post as MH having stopped the flight generally, not just relating to Covid. It wasn’t clear from his list.

I'm assuming long distance must really suck, did it for a year and a half; but why on Earth would you want to fly anyone to the UK right now? I'm struggling to think of a worse destination, and I love a good cup of tea & a bacon sandwich.

Actually, I am booked on one of the remaining Sept flights, and I am the only one having a seat allocated (Business class, though for the rest, that flight is completely empty). I am not going to fly anyway, so waiting for MH to cancel, etc.
MH already canceled my august flight PNH-KUL.
I do expect a lot more cancellations, now the extortion scheme does discourage people to come in, unless really needed.
Sorry, I meant to say "currently"......
In the past they did fly twice a day (though with many cancellations) and I do expect them to restart somewhere in the future.
