What is the general feeling these days in Cambodia concerning the covid virus?
Here in Spain it seems a second wave is happening but the locals n expats don't seem too bothered as it is mostly occurring in places where teenagers n 20 sumtings attend. Of course if those young ones live at home then , well!
Having gone through a hard lockdown it would seem most , inc the government, are against another nationwide lockdown.
There is a definite feeling of fuck this virus , lets just get on and continue with our lifes. No fuck this n party attitude but a definite, if it happens it happens.

k440, something to do when you're pissed.
the PM issues cautions on it every couple days,. Malaysia and Indonesian flight were just banned.
Maybe you missed it, though the UK did put back Spain on the 14-days quarantine list for returning holidayers .....

Nah, I didn't miss it as it is big news here. However, the locals n expats are seemingly more n more inclined towards having a second wave ( as they survived the first) and perhaps a third n fourth than the toatal destruction of the economy.
In Cambodia you haven't yet experienced that first wave, and it is clear now that sunshine n heat doesn't stop the virus, so what is the general feeling now, one of fear, anxiety or of hope or despair?

And a potentially interesting one too.
I can’t speak for Cambodia, but here in the U.K. we now have to wear masks in shops. There seems to be general acceptance of it - no one is kicking up too much of a fuss except the loony conspiracy nuts.
Overall it feels as though life is slowly getting back to normal, although most of the big corporates who can are still working from home.
So - working from home, cafes open, shops open, bars and restaurants open. It’s really the best of times if you’re managing to keep employed.

Mask are required at all times now unless you are exercising. Even in restaurants you need to wear one whenever you get up from your table to leave, pay the bill or have a piss. I found the masks at first very uncomfortable and it freaked me out seeing everyone masked n gloved in the early days, but no longer. The new normal?
However, the Spanish have quickly reverted back to form and are hugging n kissing each other in greeting , albeit with a half worn mask!
My point was that it seems no longer strange anymore and people are more prepared to catch the virus rather than suffer any more lockdowns and if you haven't experienced a full lockdown , you have been very lucky.
Is Cambodia prepared to sacrifice its tourism industry and the economy to avoid the covid?

How do you know it never came through Cambodia...
How could it not have?
I travelled through chinese airports 5 times after November 18, 2019...
I had a bad flu in late january...but, at the time thought it was the Regular flu I picked up when I had to go back to USA to bury my mom..
I was fucked up...but, by February I was at a wedding in Kampong Cham....then, the lockdowns hit and I have been here in Siem Reap....safer than anywhere else on the planet it seems..
After stocking up on staples for months....I realized my store was fine..
I wear a mask at my store and use gel..and at my bank ATM...alcohol provided...
I live in a 7 unit apartment..
My wife and I keep to ourselves..practice safe habits...
I would not want to be anywhere else.
I had a choice ...abandon my Khmer lady of 3 years and go back to my house in the USA or stay here and ride it out.
I thought by now I would of been able to go back to USA and sell my house and do some other things I foolishly put off..
I sure never dreamed the chinese plague would cause such chaos and ruin so many people's lives.
I have to get my visa extension next week a d hope that goes well...the 5 day vacation coming up has Khmer folks with no money..
Pchum Ben is not until October...people will need money for that..
I am having a great year...
Going to stay put..
See what happens in the fall.

Romantic Cambodia is dead and gone. It's with McKinley in the grave.
Did that kiwi soldier bloke say in his quarantine hotel people were walking in and out as they pleased?
I can't find the post but that is deeply worrying.

Yes, I have some clients that saw it all themselves....then the crackdown came and they started doing bed checks. But, that still did't stop more than 12 Koreans from disappearing from the hotel 4 days in, not to be seen again in quarantine.
To the OP, most officials and locals I speak with don't consider COVID a threat inside Cambodia anymore...but they do consider travelers coming IN to be the source of any future problem. I think except for business travelers, Cambodia will remain pretty closed for the rest of the year.

Meanwhile, in Vietnam, there have been two new cases of community transmission after 100 days clean record. They just shut Da Nang down for travel and everyone has been ordered to wear masks etc. They haven't shut the schools down again yet, but distancing measures are in place, it's only affecting Da Nang, so far.Felgerkarb wrote: ↑Mon Jul 27, 2020 2:00 pmYes, I have some clients that saw it all themselves....then the crackdown came and they started doing bed checks. It seems they have been finding a few undocumented Chinese who have been slipping over the border.
Up the workers!
