I arrived in PP last night
Enjoy these threads. Khmer 440 still has credibility with the ancient posters still around. I love Horace, Playboy and RobW the most.
Just left my 2 day stay in hotel pp, they asked me my home address which is in the province about 4 times, are they going to actually come and check on me? I mean if i run out for groceries am i going to come home and get arrested? Did anyone get checked in on? Also nobody could tell me when i get the 2k usd back. Is that after the 2 week self lockdown.
Thanks.
Happy to have fresh air finally.
cheers mates.

I live in PP and nobody showed up at my doorstep, during the remaining 12 days home quarantine, which I did take serious. I do think, they want to have your living location, just in case somebody is found positive, in which case they will need to do contact tracing.
After the quarantine, I went to the ATM and retrieved the remaining deposit using the ATM card + security code I got. Just earlier, the deposit was USD 3K and I retrieved USD 2770, leaving USD 230 for the costs.
Though with that pretty low amount, I think, I was lucky, since the last Covid-19 check did happen during the whole week bank holiday (or they just want to scare off potential Cambodia visitors with the menu pricing).
You could even try to retrieve the deposit right away, it could very well be, there is no 12 days blocking at all, report back.
Thanks for the info i did not get a atm card just a receipt and shows Cambia Bank On it ill try to get it from them. Will report back. New to the forum, hopefully this thread is still active.
For the people getting E Type visas, did you have any supporting documentation regarding a sponsor or invitation? If so, who asked to see it, embassy when issuing the visa / immigration on arrival? And if not, did no one ask for it on arrival? If not, it seems like an E Type visa can be obtained instead of a currently suspended Tourist visa?
According to an announcement on August 4th, travellers without sponsorship or invitation are 'warmly welcome' to Cambodia. Obviously negative test, insurance, deposit and quarantine are required.
With regard to Singapore Airlines, I understand (from speaking with Singapore airlines direct) that these flights from European cities to Phnom Penh via Singapore are still happening, are carrying passenger and transit is fine as long as it's with SQ / Silk / Scoot. Has anyone had any experience of this, or other knowledge?
Feedback appreciated.

leicesterguyuk There are mixed reports on documents, I didn't need anything in Seoul to be given a visa.
Even when tourist visas were a thing you could still get an "ordinary" visa - which is a visa you can turn into something else eg a business visa up to 12 months.

I believe it was an ordinary visa, currently the visa man is changing it into a biz visa.
Bollocks, ordinary visa is the name Cambodia does give to a business visa. And the letter code is E.
You come in on an ordinary visa (E class) then can extend this into something else depending on your situation.
EB - Business
EG - Looking for a job
ER - Retirement
ES - Student

Ordinary visa is not a business visa, and is only usually valid for 1 month. Why do you insist on posting so much misinformation? Are you really bitter enough to try and dissaude people from believing it's possible to re-enter Cambodia?
@Orde thanks for the information it's very worthwhile.
Bitter: No, just correcting on populist misinformation.Guest wrote: ↑Thu Sep 10, 2020 5:31 pmOrdinary visa is not a business visa, and is only usually valid for 1 month. Just because somebody suggests he managed to talk his populist way through at an easy going embassy, does not imply that'll be the case for everybody, at all locations. It's just miss-information, a Cambodian visa is "easy" to obtain. It's not. Currently, you need to show good reasons. Have good reasons and the visa stuff is Easy Peasy.
When I was at the Embassy another person came in, maybe from a visa agency at EU or so, and he got served without any further paperwork, questioning or whatever. Obviously "known" reasons for the Embassy staff. Come with the backing of a large company/organization and things are easy. Come as a poor biking individual and your probably just a lost soul.
The Orde never gave any information WHY he does come to Cambodia, let alone, which reason was used to get the visa, other than "just go to the Embassy", dream on.
Now he extends a "business" visa, just as if this is easy (unless 3 months, but for that period you won't come to Cambodia at the moment). It's not. You just need to show good reasons, which he probably does have, since all things do go easy. Think about work-permit stuff and so.
And hiding those reasons gives the novice reader the impression everything around the visa is easy, and of course makes Orde "popular", we see how catastrophic that works out in the USA.
Bragging Orde does not mention what the validity of his "Business" visa will be. That stuff does come with 3 months (easy without paperwork) to several years (requiring work permits, etc). So, if Orde does get Easy Peasy a 1 year "Business" visa, he simply works for a large organization, who gives the backing reason needed to let everything go Easy Peasy.
The main visa category is the E class visa, with several subclasses, the ones listed. And the Business subclass visa does have several sub-subclasses, referring to the length of stay granted, starting with 3 months.
So, yep, there is a lot of misinformation going on, from the populist, hiding out the reasons why things do go so "easy".
And using the term "Retirement visa" at the Embassy got me corrected, it does not exist, so, I corrected myself to Ordinary and then extend with the E class Retirement, etc. Which made them happy
The visa still incorrectly referred to as a Business Visa is the E-type (Ordinary) Visa...same thing.Guest wrote: ↑Thu Sep 10, 2020 9:48 amDid your visa turn out to be a business visa or ordinary?orde wrote: ↑Thu Sep 10, 2020 9:22 am@leicesterguyuk There are mixed reports on documents, I didn't need anything in Seoul to be given a visa.

Once you enter Cambodia on the E-type Visa, you can then apply for an EB (Business) EOS (Extension of Stay), or one of the other E-type EOS's ie.ER, EG, ES, etc.
