You seem more of a troll to me than anyone else on this thread.
After four years of cycling around the world I entered Spain from Morocco and within two weeks one of the strictest lockdowns was being enforced. For ten weeks I was in self isolation and allowed out once a day to walk the 200 metres to a supermarket. The police were aware of my presence in their town and hassled me every time I tried to deviate my route. The sight of people wearing masks n gloves n face shields really started to freak me out and after four weeks I had the first of three mental meltdowns.
After ten weeks the lockdown was eased and I was allowed to cycle around a bit. However, during week 12 my bike was stolen and I completely broken down and went nuts, uncontrollably crying n panicking with serious doubts about myself. With the support of friends in Cambodia who chipped in with some funds I managed to get a new bike delivered and started to cycle again. That was over ten weeks ago and I am trying to workout where to go / predict the future. I am living in a tent as I have mostly been for the last two years and the Spanish winter is shit, wet , windy and cold everywhere in Andalusia. Come 2021 I will be an illegal immigrant with perhaps at the most 3 months allowed to be in Spain. Where do I go? England, where I have not lived for 25 years, where there are very few friends and no family, back to Cambodia which feels like home , where I have friends and where my bank account is placed seems like the best option. Ideally, I would like to cycle there, through Europe, into Turkey, fly to India and cycle across india into Burma and Thailand. Almost certainly that will not be possible for a long time So I have to work out the easiest way to fly back.
I arrived in PP last night
Living in Spain, though, if you do have a UK Passport, feel free to follow the Korean quarantine challenge. I don't mind.

Off topic but have prices of business/ first class tickets gone up similarly to economy or do they seem a better deal now?
Romantic Cambodia is dead and gone. It's with McKinley in the grave.
You can apply for Cambodian visa through mail.
If you fly to Korea and they deny you a visa to Cambodia your plan is fucked.

Yeah, and the whole of all your writings suggests, you are pretty much struggling with the current situation. Feel free to dive into another adventure, you can not oversee the consequences of.horace wrote: ↑Fri Aug 21, 2020 7:12 pm@v12

The cheapest Business class tickets EU-ICN-PNH returns are around EUR 3000 with Korean Air. And for that, you have to buy long in advance or just 2 weeks before departure. Other purchase moments do go EUR 4000 and (significantly) higher. Asiana is usually a little cheaper, though does fly from less EU cities, requiring an additional transit in the EU, with all connection risks of that.Lucky Lucan wrote: ↑Fri Aug 21, 2020 7:21 pmOff topic but have prices of business/ first class tickets gone up similarly to economy or do they seem a better deal now?
CI (China Airlines) tends to be a little cheaper, however with tighter Taipei transit restrictions and -compared to Korean Air- a higher chance of canceled flights.
Malaysian airlines does change/cancel flights when-ever they like and are completely unreliable, let alone, their call center sucks (and they are currently banned).
Cathay Pacific/Dragon-Air did cancel all their PNH flights.
He doesn't have a proper address in Spain, tent at street corner XYZ is such a good return address.
Maybe, we should start a fund-raising campaign "Save Horace".....

I didn't say it was a plan. I am just exploring different ideas. It doesn't really matter what I do , fucked if I stay in Spain, fucked if I go to England, fucked if this pandemic last longer than two years, fucked by Acleda, fucked by the collapsing dollar economy,
Eat n drink tapas while the world goes to shit is not much of a plan.

I got plenty of money, only trouble is is that it is in Cambodia and Acleda are fucking me around.

That Asiana flight cost almost exactly x2 to be in biz so that is an unusually attractive ratio but I have never flown with that airline before to know if it's usual for them, it cost around $750 one way. For that you get 84kg total baggage allowance (64 hold + 20 carry on). If you have a lot of luggage then by the time you have spent $325 on an economy ticket (23kg +10kg allowance), the excess baggage fees will quickly blow past the cost of the biz ticket.Lucky Lucan wrote: ↑Fri Aug 21, 2020 7:21 pmOff topic but have prices of business/ first class tickets gone up similarly to economy or do they seem a better deal now?
Thanks to V12 for all the useful information here and on the other threads. Very informative and helpful.
Horace: No idea how you can package your bicycle and get it on plane. Still, Singapore airlines offers reasonable flights at around 700 USD in economy, one way, to PNH. In the last 3 days they even allowed return tickets from and to PNH.
The overall flight time seems to be much better than the Korean route although there is a long 9 hrs stop in Singapore.
My take would be to make it to a location that is affordable and has an airport with flights to Cambodia. Flights that need only 1 plane change. FRA, CDG, AMS, LHR are pretty good. IST less so as Asiana charges an arm and a leg.
In case you get stuck within the EU and running our of time, Turkey might be a cheaper alternative to stay with rents as low as 150 USD per month. Food etc. very low. The collapse of the TRY covers any losses of the USD in terms of purchasing power. Entry does not require a covid 19, any departures mandates one within 48 hrs of leaving. If you schedule it well, this would be also your entry test for Cambodia.
If you have bank accounts in PNH and perhaps even a passport issued by the UK Embassy in PNH plus a number of extensions of stay, preferably ER extensions, then you will have an excellent chance of getting an E visa, valid for 3 months for entering, and 1 month of stay which of course can be extended. Problem solved. There is also a Cambodian Embassy in Ankara aside Berlin etc.
I will pick up my E Class Visa soon. It is based on me having numerous extensions of stay in the passport, bank accounts that are not empty in PNH, my passport was issued by my embassy in PNH, and some minor items. V12 had invitations from family contacts etc. I had none of that.
I would not tell the Cambodia embassy that you're broke but that your funds are all in Cambodia. I explained that after months of lock up, I am close to 6 now, the financial situation was becoming uncomfortable and there was no change of the situation in sight. I got my ok by email within 1 working day.
My overall impression of the Cambodian government's handling of the situation is very positive. The adjust regulations, making it easier, and they actually do consider applications on individual merit. In other words, that category IV in the Aug. 4 regulations does exist and it is used.
The stupid Cambo bashing by some posters in other threats reveals a sad state of ignorance and their own preoccupations. I am happy that they decided to stay away. Well-done.

Yeah, Turkey was always on the agenda. But too late now to cycle through E Europe as I would arrive in the middle of winter, plus borders are closed or more quaratine.
Europe is about to be hit by a massive tsunami of covid19 and the whole situation could be completely different in six months.
I don't give a fuck about the covid as I have said time n time again but being trapped without access to my bank account is a killer.
The choices I have at this moment seem to be,
stay in Spain till March n fly to England and become a down n out!
Stay in Spain and join the hippy commune and become a beggar,
Cycle to Turkey in the Spring and hope Acleda replaces my debit cards.
