Spirit drinkers getting fleeced in bars
Went there last night. Nice place but it sure ain't cheap.
None are correct, I'm afraid. The 'front' entrance is the Liquor Store picture I posted. It opens from 18:00, closed Mondays I believe.slow delivery wrote: ↑Sat Jan 23, 2021 8:24 pmI will put a name against my pics as soon as MaxB confirm that one of them is the correct Speakeasy Lounge mentioned in his post.
Cheers
I stumbled across it when looking for Punt e Mes
The American manager is very personable and they have a good range.
Optimistic perhaps, opening a speakeasy in the current climate but I wish them well.
Yes right, I was there also last night the place is very cozy indeed but certainly not cheap about $9. a drink, I think drinking at the Rafle Hotel Elephant Bar will be more affordable.Guest5 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 24, 2021 7:21 amWent there last night. Nice place but it sure ain't cheap.

Very intimate indeed, I would like to see this establishment as a upscale replacement of the defunct Sophie's Bar for those who have nostalgia of that lounge.Slow Delivery wrote: ↑Sun Jan 24, 2021 4:08 pmYes right, I was there also last night the place is very cozy indeed but certainly not cheap about $9. a drink, I think drinking at the Rafle Hotel Elephant Bar will be more affordable.Guest5 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 24, 2021 7:21 amWent there last night. I would like to see any replacement for Sophie's, upscale or not! Alas that ship has sailed never to return.
The beers over there are $4.75 for a pint. They are the Cerevisia which are damned good, I don't think they serve any of the cheap tasteless local beers.orde wrote: ↑Tue Dec 15, 2020 1:02 pmI had a Jameson as Botanico. Fucking Botanico that isn't even in a building, you have to just sit outside with flies buzzing around your face (on a stool made from bits of rebar FFS). $4 per measure
A litre of Jameson is $15 at SuperDuper which would be $0.45 per shot. Bars must pay wholesale prices so let's call it $0.40 at the outside. That's a 900% markup.
I'm seriously not getting it at all. Beer is a ballache because it is bulky and heavy to move plus takes up loads of space, it needs the hassle and energy cost of keeping it cool. Beer can go bad, it needs to be stored correctly. The effort of providing a frosty glass with each one. Hard booze is the exact opposite of all that.

Better off on st.172, mostly 50c beers all day. Why pay more?

50c beers bring bottom feeding creeps out of the woodwork, like flies to a steaming pile of faceal matter.
Prefer to price them out and spend a bit more. If I wanted a 50c beer there's a can in the refrigerator

If your taking a bird out on a date i suppose the fancy places are alright, to impress her like. If it's with the lads or just wanna get hammered, hit the dives man.
