It's not about zero Covid case, but getting the whole under control.YellowFlu wrote: ↑Thu Sep 16, 2021 8:53 amSo anybody with kids here? Cambodia is now one of the few countries starting to jab kids 6-11 and planning even younger. They seem to aim for 0 Covid cases or something. Why else do all the kids?
I find it concerning as they have largely been ignored in trials so no safety data. The buffoon at the top here might require it to attend school. Lets hope it is optional.
Nobody says so openly, though it is obvious, the China vaccines aren't powerful enough to control the India variant at the current vaccination level in Cambodia (99.xx % or some 80%, depending on who you include, with children the 80%).
So, there are very few (affordable) options:
- A 3rd shot booster with a more Western vaccine.
- Increase the vaccination level with all children included.
- Continuous lock-downs (though really expensive, destroying the economy).
Tbh, I think, the only option would be do the first 2 and until that is completed, do the 3rd one too.
Would the Covid-19 vaccine be harmful for children: Quite unlikely.
We see from the China happenings, there is zero control of the India variant, without super stringent access control and huge scale lock-downs/testing to resolve leaks. So, effectively, China will not solve its own problem, until they swallow their pride to get better quality mRNA vaccines from "the despised west".
