Couch Potato need's help-!

I'm not a large framed person and for most of my adult life I ranged between 60kgs to 65 kgs.
My prior physical life style ( work wise ) came to an end about 5 years ago and I started packing on a few kilos
I reached into the high 70 kgs a few years back. ( not happy about that )

Covid kicked in along with a sedentary lifestyle plus too much booze has pushed me past the 90kgs mark.

So now I want to actively work on managing and reducing my excess weight.

Thoughts and suggestions on managing this would be appreciated.

Whilst I'm anticipating a bit of slagging off on this post.
I'm truly interested in managing this situation and how other posters have dealt with weight gain in the latter part of their lives.

I refuse to go out with nothing more than a whimper followed by a small farting sound and a shit stain on my bed sheets..
Just thought I'd share that with you.

It’s very simple. Eat less and walk 10000 steps every day.

This and drink less beer. Also work towards 30 press-ups and 30 squats every morning, even if your first attempt is 1 press-up. If you are a water baby, hit the pool for an hour every morning, and take up bike riding every other day..

The good thing is you are aware of it and want to do something about it

Edit.
Just to add, walking on grass or soft sand is way better on the joints than walking on pavement. Failing all the above, an 8 week holiday to Colombia should shed those unwanted kilos.

Subsist upon 3 steaks per day, each served with a pound of cheese and drink only vodka.

Wall everywhere. Be like a skinny boi in no time

Maybe offer to walk a neighbours dog to give your exercise some routine.

Im how, you were.. 67kg never hardly fluctuates so not much help as I eat and drink what I like but I am pretty active.

Good luck

I've virtually completely cut sugar out. I reckon food is just an addiction/routine thing as I cannot stand sugar in coffee now.

Those ski machines like SkiErg are supposed to be one of the best for cardio, and easy on the leg joints for us middle aged chaps.
Can see myself getting one of them once I get a house.
Might just use resistance bands for it in the meantime.

Ant Middleton uses one for working out.
I know, because I watched him do it in the SAS gym. (Well...on YouTube at least)

I also like the look of them because they target the back muscles and triceps, which your everyday job, and life doesn't.
My biceps tense up/don't switch off when I'm sleeping. Possible muscle imbalance I reckon.

How does the OP feel about porridge and fruit?

Other than that, I would say it's all about routine. I need to get one on a Sat & Sun to get me away from the interwebs.

Be active, choose stairs instead of elevator.
Walk instead of driving short distances,
Cut calories late at night, including beer. Try to have most of your eating and drinking done by 7pm.
Don’t eat excessive crap foods like crisps, chocolates sugary drinks etc.

Give yourself a water drinking target, 4L per day will suppress appetite a little and give you exercise as you walk to the pisser more often! Also it will prevent you drinking higher calorie drinks to quench thirst.

Don’t stress it, making small changes will bring about change. Don’t expect to lose 3-5 kg in a month. Have small achievable targets like 1kg per month and this will be more sustainable long term.

I like food and beer and in order to indulge, I stay reasonably active. I walk everywhere if it is less than 10 kilometers, hit the gym 3-4 a week, do aerobics 4-5 times a week, and run a little. I will never have a six-pack, like the beer and food to much for that, but I am in fairly good shape.

I never drink soft drinks (well, except during ultra marathons when a Coke can taste pretty good, rarely eat burgers or pizza, do not like crisps or the like. I do love chocolate, that is my weekly treat. I do eat in local restaurants a lot which means mostly veggies and fish, not much meat.

But end of the day, it is pretty simple, more has to go out than goes in and I agree with ផោមក្លិនស្អុយ: set realistic targets. Forget all this miracle cures that promise to shed kilos in a week, it is not sustainable. When I do need to lose some weight for an upcoming race, I am for 1 pound max in a week.

It's all about carbs. Reduce your carb intake (sugar and alcohol in particular).
