It's all about carbs. Reduce your carb intake (sugar and alcohol in particular).
I am no doctor but I have never bought into this no carb thing, or any other fad for that matter. Whilst I do try and avoid refined carbs, I could not sustain my running without carbs. Look at the Kenyan runners, they live on "Githeri" (corn and beans), "Irio" (bean, corn, potato mash) and almost now meat or fruit for that matter. I used to live on it as a kid, but it did not make me fast......

I like food and beer and in order to indulge, I stay reasonably active. I walk everywhere if it is less than 10 kilometers, hit the gym 3-4 a week, do aerobics 4-5 times a week, and run a little. I will never have a six-pack, like the beer and food to much for that, but I am in fairly good shape.

I never drink soft drinks (well, except during ultra marathons when a Coke can taste pretty good, rarely eat burgers or pizza, do not like crisps or the like. I do love chocolate, that is my weekly treat. I do eat in local restaurants a lot which means mostly veggies and fish, not much meat.

But end of the day, it is pretty simple, more has to go out than goes in and I agree with ផោមក្លិនស្អុយ: set realistic targets. Forget all this miracle cures that promise to shed kilos in a week, it is not sustainable. When I do need to lose some weight for an upcoming race, I am for 1 pound max in a week.
Hanno,

Would you by any chance like to share any vids of you doing aerobics?

It's just I'd like to try, but not familiar with the moves....

I feel the same... i also think that diets which make you miserable defeat the purpose long term.
Tweaks to diet and lifestyle will bring health benefits without making you miserable.

Sounds a bit pervy.

Here hanno, share some videos of you in your lycra...

If only there was a free, searchable video archive somewhere. Hey if it was online then that would be even better!

I thought bikers wore lycra? Seriously, aerobics is way underrated; it is a pretty hard workout. Though being surrounded by women makes it a little easier.....

Is the sunrise and sunset Riverside aerobics thing still going on? That was the only downside to my favourite room in pp but it looked very popular.

go on a low carb diet. thats what i am doing.
In just 3 weeks am already seeing results, Plenty of info on duck duck go on low carb diets, meal plans.
Cut out bread, rice, sweets, cereals, candies, fruit shakes, soft drinks
eat more seafood, meat, eggs, nuts and berries
veggies that grow above ground
exercise a min of 1 hour /day, (walking, bicycling, sit ups, swimming etc etc)
eat in a window of 8 hours, ( ie first meal at 11 am, last meal before 7)

I found once i hit 64 or so, i found i was eating less BUT was putting on weight because my body was not burning the fats as before

Hanno is correct about not cutting carbs IF ur into heavy exercising ( as he runs) but your

Keto ( less than 50 carbs) was to extreme for me, i eat around 50-80 carbs/day

Paleo-ketogenic diet (probably not for bodybuilders, marathon runners, sumo wrestlers, Hanno, etc.), cut out all processed foods, and do 16/8 intermittent fasting.

If anyone is interested in more info, tell me. I've got years of links.

There's also an old thread here where Garage Bar jm talks about good fats. He was right.

The first couple of post-meth years saw me gain a healthy amount of weight; the next couple saw me put on a shit load. Im from Melbourne and a month into the first lockdown i actually felt the effects of my weight for the first time, this sluggishness.

Ive gone from 85kg to 76kg in about 6ish months changing very little. I run four laps of my block on days that I don't work and allow myself to feel a bit "hungry" in the evening. I feel slightly embarrased in the knowledge that this was literally all it took to stave off the worst of my weight gain

Start moving you lascivious leviathan of a man!

If like many people you'd rather place your exposed fat behind on a nest of particularly voracious ants rather than exercise, find a form of entertainment or interest that gets you moving so that you're almost oblivious to the fact you're engaged in exertion. I use photography as an excuse and usually walk on average 10-15kms a day.

Dust off that Jane Fonda work out VHS, go death pat spotting, do the house work with vigor....just start moving!!

I’m not convinced that cardio is an effective way to lose weight. In my experience weight loss is best achieved by changing your diet.

People forget to factor their BMR into the equation when they say how many kcal they’ve burned from running. In the end they run for hours to burn less kcal than a meal contains.

That’s why people’s weight moves up and down like a yo-yo losing and regaining water weight depending on what mood they’re in.

If you want to lose weight you need to eat less food. There’s no shortcut or magical cardio that can help. Cardio is great if you enjoy doing it but that’s about it.
