It's a bunch of lies. Why would anyone report a crime to the Vietnamese authorities that was committed abroad? The only reason he fled to Vietnam was to escape prosecution. And what's this nonsense about his niece putting meth in his drinks? For what reason?

Wrong, I didn't bribe myself into the country. it was a completely legal way to obtain a Cambodian passport. The same level like Malta and other EU countries are offering EU passports, only the amount is higher in that case.

As I informed, there were more people involved. The stories I heard about the niece were mind blowing and I thought that if indeed the niece was involved (and she was, as later appears from the court papers in Hanoi) then it would make sense to report yourself to the Vietnamese police so they also could arrest her. In my opinion back then, Cambodian police would pay no attention to a second party because she was not visible in the video (but she filmed a large part of it) .. So, that was the reason why I advised him to report himself at the Vietnamese police. It was not at all meant to escape Cambodian justice and this was also written as being proven, in the Cambodian court papers,.Lucky Lucan wrote: ↑Mon Feb 15, 2021 9:13 amIt's a bunch of lies. When I saw the video I first I didn't believe it was him.. I think I could only see 20 seconds in total of it. I confronted my ex-bf with the video publication (this was all later in the evening) and an avalanche of bizar stories come down on me.. my mind was exploding. Super confused. At a certain moment I wanted to kick him. out but this was a village with no electricity, roughly 2 hours walking from Sen Monorom, so I told him that he could stay but had to report himself the next day to the Vietnamese police. I dropped him in Sen Monorom at a taxi location. he had to find his own way from there. I advised him to go to Vietnam but never assisted him to go to Vietnam, although I stick to the idea that it still was the best option. There were more people involved: my ex bf, his niece, her boyfriend and their gang, all of them in Vietnam. The blackmailing also happened in Vietnam. So, it was also really a case of the Vietnamese police. Never in my mind, it was a matter of escaping or that kind of nonsense. And again, this also was proven during the courtcase.superguest wrote: ↑Mon Feb 15, 2021 8:34 amWhat exactly did you do on December 6 when you first saw the video?Stefan Struik wrote: ↑Sun Feb 14, 2021 8:41 pm
- because he kept telling me his niece was involved (and later this has been proved by the court in Hanoi) , I told him he had to go to Vietnam to report himself to the police there. And mind you, at the time I advised him this, all hell had broken loose in Vietnam but not in Cambodia.
What assistance did you give to help him get to Vietnam?
If you saw video of him torturing a child in Cambodia, why did you advise him to go to Vietnam and/or assist him in going to Vietnam? "Because his niece was involved" is not an answer that makes sense.
You knew he abused a child in Cambodia.Stefan Struik wrote: ↑Mon Feb 15, 2021 9:28 amWhen I saw the video I first I didn't believe it was him.. I think I could only see 20 seconds in total of it. You advised him to go to Vietnam.
You helped him go to Vietnam by giving him a ride to place where he could get a taxi to Vietnam.
All true?

It doesn't make any sense reporting a crime committed in Cambodia to Vietnamese police, they have no jurisdiction here. And all this nonsense about a "gang" is just a lame attempt to divert attention from the perpetrator.

I'm really not sure what the objective is here, other than the OP trying to salve his conscience and demonstrate that he isn't a bad guy.
I don't think its going so well.
OP. You mentioned that there are lots of false assumptions about you. How about you start again and list what you feel are the top 5 false assumptions and state why you believe them to be wrong.

Far from being a cursed name; Ly Heng is a very common, almost stereotypical Khmer name. I sincerely doubt this strawman bollox about it being a cursed name. It's more likely to be another way that Struik absolved himself of responsibility in this case.Stefan Struik wrote: ↑Mon Feb 15, 2021 7:06 amto be honest, if you can imagine, I stopped for a while checking facebook and maybe a year or two years later 'cleaned up' the facebook account. I removed all related pictures but I remember that I overlooked some. Ly Samnang is the name I was supposed to get (and I was I had because Ly Heng is really a cursed name) ... That company vascao was a Singapore company, but it is not longer existing.John.Sweden wrote: ↑Sun Feb 14, 2021 9:03 pmHi Stefan,
1.Why did you keep pictures of Dung on your Facebook, even after you were back in The Netherlands?
2.What happened to vascao.asia, was mr. Nguyen Thanh Dung Import & Export Manager?
3.Who is Ly Samnang? (Heng Ly is your Cambodian name?)

Just curious.
Also, didn't he (Struik) have some weird Pedo enabling festival in his home country that he organized each year?
WHY IN GODS NAME ARE YOU GIVING THIS FOUL FUCKING PEDO THE AIR TIME.

He was thinking about bananas:superguest wrote: ↑Mon Feb 15, 2021 8:34 amWhat exactly did you do on December 6 when you first saw the video?
Then he talks for about 3 pages about how confused he was, how he used to smoke meth while having sex with men and how evil the evil niece is.I only got to know about it by accident on the evening of Monday 5th December 2016. Before this day I had harvested some nice-looking bananas on my farm and for some reason, I decided to post it on Facebook on that day.
Finally:
After my discussion with Dung that night, he put him on a taxi van to Phnom Penh from where he decided to travel to Vietnam while I drove to my other small palm sugar business in Kampong Cham province. Later that morning, Chanthol, my very close staff member and dear friend, called me in panic. He said that the police had arrived at our farm. I was shocked. I realized that the case had now become a big deal in Cambodia. Until that moment, I thought it would only be a huge issue in Vietnam. But here I was, receiving a shocker. I underestimated the speed and power of social media. I told Chanthol to tell the police that I was out of town and that I would return to Mondulkiri very early the next day to visit the police at the start of their working day.
Little did they know that we had two business locations in Kampong Cham: one warehouse and one packing house. When we were in the packing house, we got a phone call from the mother of Bunnat, one of my staff, telling us that the police had come to the warehouse and asked for me. I told Bunnat not to worry, that I had already informed the police in Mondulkiri province through Chanthol that I would come to the police station early the next morning.
Bringing the news. You stay classy, nas, Cambodia.
I'm vaguely familiar with the story for having read the thread when it first came out.
So what is the situation now, have you been fully exonerated and is it business as usual or are there still lingering aspects of the case that need to be solved?

I don't understand the point of giving this guy a tribune. It's not like the victims are gaining anything about it, and there's no hope of being sympathetic to his case.
Weird editorial choice.

It's not an "editorial choice" - this is a public web forum, not a newspaper
