Yeah that is pretty much exactly as I remember it.

I am sorry starving p... I guess this is the part of Confucianism you were thinking about...
"The worldly concern of Confucianism rests upon the belief that human beings are fundamentally good, and teachable, improvable, and perfectible through personal and communal endeavor, especially self-cultivation and self-creation. Confucian thought focuses on the cultivation of virtue in a morally organised world. Some of the basic Confucian ethical concepts and practices include rén, yì, and lǐ, and zhì. Rén (仁, 'benevolence' or 'humaneness') is the essence of the human being which manifests as compassion. It is the virtue-form of Heaven.[11] Yì (义; 義) is the upholding of righteousness and the moral disposition to do good. Lǐ (礼; 禮) is a system of ritual norms and propriety that determines how a person should properly act in everyday life in harmony with the law of Heaven. Zhì (智) is the ability to see what is right and fair, or the converse, in the behaviors exhibited by others. Confucianism holds one in contempt, either passively or actively, for failure to uphold the cardinal moral values of rén and yì."

Ahhh, those were the days.
Supping Black Panthers, whilst gazing out at the ocean. "Lobsters" for 1 dollar sold by the Viet beach hawkers.
"You wanna buy bwacelet?" kids being mildly abusive.

I don't think that shot is Serendipity. I remember that string of rocks where the guy is fishing and it pretty sure it was Sohka. Not that it matters, It's all fucked now. One really has to wonder about some people's mentality if they find concrete and hotels preferable to what was there before. And it's NOT progress.
It is definately Serendipity.
Not that I give a shit but they *might* just be dumping that dirt to make a foundation for dumping white sand back onto the beach ?
Or it will be a god aweful paved corso wih boring garden beds and street lights.
A few markers below but might be wrong about boom boom room i think it was a tad furher up the street....about 50m more

I sent that helicopter photo to an old khmer friend who lives right there.
They said, "It's very bad. The governor decided to delete the water." Sounds about right.

Yes, you're on the right track. They also had other religions/belief systems - Taoism and the like - that you see in overseas Chinese populations. Those were all effectively wiped out and replaced with communism; now communism no longer applies, what do they have? The growth of Christianity in China indicates the absence of any similar system.Orichá wrote: ↑Mon Mar 08, 2021 8:31 pmI am sorry starving p... Hey guys, look at this drone view of the "new road," which the eco-friendly engineering team has built: deploying an awful lot of dirt for the sake of their SUVs... Successfully despoiling the natural grandeur of the rock formations along the seaside... (FYI, this is up from the main Serendipity pier, just beyond "Above Us Only Sky" -- the formerly rugged coastal section at the end of Serendipity...)

Hey, if God liked nature, He wouldn't have invented people!
The coral was long dead and those rock point squid fisher folk, forefinger holding the line wrapped around pop cans in the setting sun, well, they could never afford to live there anymore anyway. Good riddance.
I can imagine it becoming an improvement, given ten years, but it really is a stretch.
