Just a heads up to all you English teachers out there, your game is up you sneaky crafty racists you!
Thanks to the good work of Professor and Associate Dean of Arizona State University, we now know you've been spreading white supremacy this entire time.
He gets right into it in chapter 1: "all the ways we judge language, even by well-intentioned teachers, are almost always racist and slave-making, almost always White supremacist."
We're onto you now, you filthy slave makers!
Not me I hear you say, no not I, I am not a racist, I teach Mathematics, not English. Well get off your high horse because we know you're a racist too.
And you NGO workers can wipe that smug look off your face too, the very fact you deal in acronyms all day is perpetuating the scourge white supremacy culture.
English Teachers are Racist
There is a huge difference between White Supremacy and promoting methods of life, which are (at least at the economic side) significantly more beneficial to all involved. Many people make that mistake.
Are science teachers exempt? I mean, I teach about white blood cells, black holes etc, but only with the best of intentions...
Both of you sound like real white supremacists, real colonial thinking right there.
White people were responsible for not only the industrial but also the technological revolution, so of course teaching science is racist!
Everything colonial is racist. For instance I have recently been informed I'm a racist because my father went to the end of the earth by moving countries to try to make a better life for his family. I'm not quite sure how to correct this, but I might send a package to my mother and ask her to make my dad a special drink that makes him sleep forever. I think this might make up for the racist he has made me by caring for his family.
And with regards to good intentions, not only has the Honourable Dean of Arizona State University literally stated that teaching English is racist even with the best of intentions, it is in fact racist to assume good intentions at all. I presume that means you must also assume negative intent, even with your own intentions.
It is very important that you stay up to date with these rules. It's only when every white person is a racist that Black people will truly be free.
P.S - I learned how to capitalise Black and white properly from that article: > They also contacted human resources to report retaliation after protesting sexual harassment issues and to advocate for raises for Black people to match white employees’ pay.
It's important to treat all people equally, which is why we capitalise B for black but not w for white.
