I know Cambodia is using the Chinese vaccines and they are different to the newer MRNA vax used in other countries but having just announced the 4th round of vaccines opening in the past few weeks...it doesn't sit quite right with me.Fred Edwards wrote: ↑Wed Jan 12, 2022 11:55 amRepeat Booster Shots Spur European Warning on Immune-System Risks.

I'd like to see more research findings on the impact of multiple vaccinations in such a short period of time before I agree to keep going down this path.

I tend to agree. From what I understand, two (original) shots protect against serious illness just as much as 3 or 4 do. The only benefit to the booster is that protection against catching the virus is "boosted" back up. But if you won't get seriously ill from it, does it even matter? Why not reserve the boosters for the aged and the unwell? Otherwise we risk getting into "washing your hands for 30 minutes" territory.ផោមក្លិនស្អុយ wrote: ↑Wed Jan 12, 2022 12:13 pmI know Cambodia is using the Chinese vaccines and they are different to the newer MRNA vax used in other countries but having just announced the 4th round of vaccines opening in the past few weeks...it doesn't sit quite right with me.Fred Edwards wrote: ↑Wed Jan 12, 2022 11:55 amRepeat Booster Shots Spur European Warning on Immune-System Risks.

But does it not appear that this could play out very much like the flu, i.e. vaccines need to be tweaked every year? That is where I see us heading.Starving Pelican wrote: ↑Wed Jan 12, 2022 3:21 pmI tend to agree. My wife and I definitely lost our sense of taste for abit with Covid.
You don't get that with the flu.
She made noodles with Prahok, and it tasted bitter as fock.
I am now almost a full beleeber. No more turning crisp packets inside out, and putting them on my head to protect the brain from radio waves.
Cannot get a booster for 3 months after having Covid, in Oi'land.
No PCR tests available Nationally on HSE.
Scientists, drug bodies, and health services are learning as they go, hence boosters.

Yeah, I see that too. But with the flu the booster jabs are only for high risk folk.Hanno wrote: ↑Wed Jan 12, 2022 4:32 pmBut does it not appear that this could play out very much like the flu, i.e. vaccines need to be tweaked every year? I'm kind of wondering now that I've been vaccinated to protect me from the severe reaction to Covid do I really need the booster every few months to stop me catching it? (Similar to what SP posted above).
That's me though, if I caught it I would follow precautions as much as I could to stop it spreading further. I understand that other people may not take the same approach if found to be positive.

Exactly. I rarely bothered with the flu jab, and it was certainly never seen as any sort of requirement.ផោមក្លិនស្អុយ wrote: ↑Wed Jan 12, 2022 6:06 pmYeah, I see that too. Ok I'll admit it. I'm dutifully double vaxxed and boosted and I'm starting to question wtf it was all ever about. Now it's just "everyone will get it anyway...drop the restrictions...open the floodgates"
I've been happy to do my part but..fuck....when even the Pfizer boss says it's useless against omricon ( I was Astrozenica) it makes you wonder. Now you can be a tennis star and do what fuck you want...and isolation rules etc are crumbling.
Two years ago it was a threat to mankind and was destroying people's livelihoods and causing schisms in society.
Now.....it's just a flu. Carry on.

Well, for a number of people, it isn't just a flu, because it doesn't go away, it is permanently debilitating.... I am vaccinated and hope I don't catch it at all....ricecakes wrote: ↑Thu Jan 13, 2022 1:35 am"Now it's just "everyone will get it anyway...drop the restrictions...open the floodgates"

never had a flu jab>
have had now my 2 Chinese shots and my AZ booster>
ONLY did it so its easier and most likely will be required to travel without quarantine (someday) I do wonder, if ever, the pre negative covid test will be eliminated before boarding a flight
in the past week have had 4 friends in various countries catch covid , 2 had double vacc'd, 2 had had their booster's

from aboveCountries relying on one of China's Covid vaccines should get booster jabs because it only cuts the risk of infection by 50%, study claims
A study in Peru found Sinopharm to be 50.4% effective against Covid infections
Earlier estimates had put the efficacy level as high as 78.1 per cent
Researchers said recipients should be boosted with Pfizer or AstraZeneca
Boosters wont stop ya from catching it>do I really need the booster every few months to stop me catching it?

A tad pedantic. Sure everyone knows that the booster significantly decreases the risk of catching the plague.

I think it will. A number of countries no longer require it. What probably won't go away for a while is the vaccination requirement, and that's because the destination country won't want you getting seriously sick and becoming a drain on their healthcare system.Phuket2006 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 13, 2022 2:46 pmI do wonder, if ever, the pre negative covid test will be eliminated before boarding a flight

I kind of think it would be good if everyone got it, so we can kind of move on, and stop fearing it/letting it control our lives.
But then again nobody wants their parents to get it.
