I guess one of the benefits of running a supermarket in Cambodia is you're not subject to those pesky laws they have in Western countries that prohibit price gouging during emergencies.

I’m sure supplies have been disrupted especially from neighbouring countries. Maybe their prices have gone up and they’re trying to re-coup their ‘losses’.
Not any good if any retailer goes bust.
Still. Until I see evidence, apart from two random postings, I er on the side of bitching.
Saw a post a couple of days ago with zero fruit and veg. So people are either panicking or there’s supply issues.

Thailand daily new cases is now exponential.
With so much reliance on thailand its not surprising any country that depends on thailand for goods and services will feel their pain too.
The inflationary affects of undersupply is now beginning to do its harm on those economies reliant on thailand.
How far will inflation climb and will wages keep up.

It's funny to see them bitching like this when they live in a country that didn't had inflation on beer prices for more than 10 years

Imported Yellow lemons hardly seem like an essential food item. Maybe give a better example after you finish your eggs Benedict with proper hollandaise. Lol.

That has always been a contentious debate on here.
I'll have to check how much they are in Aldi actually.
One thing i miss is exotic fruits like Rambutan, jackfruit, longon, guava.

The Americans already tried that. Fail.
(Or do you mean SD?)

Who wouldn’t expect locals to up yet costs in a pandemic? In the absence of rule of law this is what would happen anywhere
Food in the local market is in short supply and prices have risen, might be something to do with stopping people bringing their produce to market.
Perhaps they should have emptied Phnom Penh and made people to go work on the farm so they would have food security.
