Covid-19 cases nicely down
Covid-19 cases nicely down
Since Cambodia decided to publish the daily Covid-19 cases without any details, the numbers have decreased nicely:
May 5: 672
May 6: 650
May 7: 558
May 8: 538
May 9: 520
May 10: 506
May 11: 480
May 12: 472
Wow, what a nice downward trend! Unbelievable, it's not seen anywhere else in the world. This of course can only be done in a country calling itself "The Kingdom of Wonder". These numbers are a true miracle, aren't they?

Not seen anywhere else in world?
What are you talking about, plenty of countries have been able to stop the increase and see reducing numbers.
Perhaps it might have something to do with community restrictions and vaccine rollout?
Nope? Yeah it's all a big lie.
They are still releasing name lists of those infected. What details are you missing?

I mean that it's such a nice downward trend not seen anywhere. Everywhere it's been much more volatile: up, down, down, up, etc.ផោមក្លិនស្អុយ wrote: ↑Wed May 12, 2021 1:02 pmNot seen anywhere else in world?

Also compare the numbers on the 3 days directly before the 'new system' was introduced: 730, 841, 938. And then suddenly, down to 672.
The missing info on all official MOH releases the last week or so, is location data. Some provinces talk to the press about their cases, but the PP MOH reports nothing about it. They should.

What do you mean a new system? There is no new system.frigidaire wrote: ↑Wed May 12, 2021 1:16 pmI mean that it's such a nice downward trend not seen anywhere. The MoH is just summarising the data into a easily read dashboard. Lower level data is still being released.

Over the past few days the PP numbers have actually increased slightly.
219 - 230 - 251 - 279 (yesterday) so whilst total country numbers are decreasing the PP numbers are seeing pretty small increases.

I don't think so, the sarcasm is clear. But it's there to make a point. The point seems flawed.fidget wrote: ↑Wed May 12, 2021 4:26 pmYour sarcasm-detector needs servicing.ផោមក្លិនស្អុយ wrote: ↑Wed May 12, 2021 1:02 pmNot seen anywhere else in world?

Then, things got detailed (briefly) like this
Now we got this
This was all from Feb 2020, then changed 3 times over about the past 12 days.

This situation seems to have begun on May 5th, with three articles in the Khmer Times that day showing contradictory numbers, with the last article mentioning a change of spokesperson, "confusion" and a reduction in official numbers.ផោមក្លិនស្អុយ wrote: ↑Wed May 12, 2021 1:49 pmWhat do you mean a new system? Anyway, in Sihanoukville, before the outbreak, few market sellers were wearing masks in the lead-up to the big outbreak here... I know because I went there twice in the two weeks beforehand, and saw this with my own eyes...

Khmer Times accuses ministry of providing confusing information.
With the KT's impressive record of releasing info too quickly before it has been checked and regularly causing panic and confusion the phrase containing glass houses and stones springs to mind.

Regarding the number of daily Covid cases, the Khmer Times apparently had a very reliable source, because what they predicted was very close to what was officially reported later. Until... May 5th, when the new way of reporting daily cases went into effect.
By the way, the nice downtrend continues today: 446.

The obvious assumption is that the detailed info is still collected and shared, it is too important not to be, but that it was decided in early May not to share it with people in general.
I liked having more detail officially released, and I think many Cambodians feel the same way.
Certainly speculating about why they are releasing less is possible, but mostly I just want more info.
