At least you get a buzz off it though unlike the domestic tins, where a case just gets you a bit tired and bloated.
Local brews. What are you drinking?

Romantic Cambodia is dead and gone. It's with McKinley in the grave.
Of course, if you do well and support the craft beer brewers, maybe one day it will be a healthy market. But at $ 3-4 a bottle, that's a big buzz to fund.

You all need to head down to The Library with beers averaging at $10 a bottle (the most expensive over $180) you'd all be spinning in your Anchor can lined graves.
I've been to most of the craft beer places in town, the assumption that people are one drinking one or two pints is way of the mark.

Nope. I like Lager, Pilzner, Weissbier and some ales but those craft beers not so much. I wouldn't even drink them if they were 50 cents. I'm glad someone likes them but they aren't for everyone.

Maybe that is a description of home brew, but certainly not for craft beers. Granted, you may have significant variability in quality, depending on the crafter and the batch.Lucky Lucan wrote: ↑Thu Jun 24, 2021 10:54 amThat's what used to be called home brew. The 2 beers doesn't really fly either, you have plenty of crafts made at 4-5% ABV that you can drink all day. I would know

Some of those craft beers are absolutely dire. Those rancid IPAs that taste like washing up liquid? No thanks.Lucky Lucan wrote: ↑Thu Jun 24, 2021 8:01 pmNope. The Germans have been doing it right for long enough. Stick with them and you won't go far wrong.

Talking about expensive beers. Anyone been to the prince brewery yet? Any good?
Once you get used to the 0.5L 90 cent Beer Lao cans, it looks like a lot of other things turn into a bad deal for me. I browsed all the high-end German / Japanese luxury brand imports at $ 2-4 a can out of curiosity, but it didn't seem like it was worth it. But after covid, I can't find many places to buy them, and I won't tell you where they still have stock for selfish reasons. And this stock is also soon going beyond its date, unfortunately.

Tried Cambodia last night and wasn't impressed much either. Perhaps I need to get all hot n sweaty and be sitting outside in a plastic chair to appreciate the local brews. I had quite few Tigers on the flight from Heathrow and it was okay taste wise but really didn't feel like I had had a drink though even after 8 cans. As the Khmers say "drink to get drunk" otherwise what's the point?
k440, something to do when you're pissed.

Black Panther and Klang were once real nice.
Now?--Extinct, too sweet or malt liqourish, respectively.
I always prefered Ahnchore.
Never got too snobby on lagers though.

Just the job. The German beers have replaced my need to drink bitter.
You sure you don't wanna come back to Blighty, dude?

The snob is as much the enemy of the judicious enthusiast as he is of the undiscriminating. Perhaps even more, for what is snobbery but the inability to discriminate appropriately ?bargain basement wrote: ↑Fri Jun 25, 2021 11:37 amNothing is quite as oxymoronic as a beer-snob.Harry Monk wrote: ↑Thu Jun 24, 2021 6:16 pmYou all need to head down to The Library with beers averaging at $10 a bottle (the most expensive over $180) you'd all be spinning in your Anchor can lined graves.
