Killer policemen is one way - or could the powers that be go really off piste and start collecting taxes from the mega rich, the rich and maybe even the upper middle classes properly so that some safety nets could be put in place for the mega poor? I'm not a Guardian reading leftie by any stretch but it's no wonder people are resorting to robbery and extortion if they literally can't eat. I remember an Aussie ex-cop telling me that if wages in Oz were as relatively low as they are in Cambodia, the police there would be twice as corrupt and I don't doubt it. People will do whatever to survive and with no tourist dollars floating about, Phnom Penh must be a hell hole right about now.
It will take years before tourists comes back to the Kingdom. So the bar fly visitors may choose a more accessible destinations offering a more exciting night life.
Onother crime on St.148 and Riverside was reported by the competitor website. A Chinese was mugged by a skinny female impersonator, that area need a good scrubbing.Cam-pooh-cheer wrote: ↑Tue Sep 07, 2021 3:11 pmKiller policemen is one way - or could the powers that be go really off piste and start collecting taxes from the mega rich, the rich and maybe even the upper middle classes properly so that some safety nets could be put in place for the mega poor? ^ I read that. Was he sitting outside a bar or something or slumped drunk on the Riverside itself?
If the latter, it's not anything unexpected really.

I was accosted by a ladyboy in that exact spot just beside Metro about 2 years ago. I was walking home late to my hotel in 148 and I probably looked half cut, it was the old trick where she pulls up beside you on a moto with another fellow, he waits whilst she runs over and tried to hug me. Anyway I’d had a few but still had my wits about me and gave her the don’t argue fend off and a bit of a spray. I vividly remember wanting to belt the guy waiting on the moto but thought better of it, thankfully. I bet the Chinese guy was blind drunk, the opportunistic mugging and pickpocketing of drunks has always been a problem in that area.

get the 400.$ as a reward.
A “don’t argue” is Aussie slang for a forceful stiff arm shove, often used in our football codes to break a tackle, my spray would have been “fuck off katoey”, hope that makes sense now. Upon further reflection I probably should have punched the guy waiting on the moto to teach him a lesson, I couldn’t punch a ladyboy as that would feel like punching a woman.

Thanks for clarifying that - until I read your post, in my mind, Bar Fly literally stated 'don't argue' whilst reaching into his manbag for some pepper spray. Gotta love the myraid complexities of the English language!Barfly wrote: ↑Mon Sep 13, 2021 2:21 pmA “don’t argue” is Aussie slang for a forceful stiff arm shove, often used in our football codes to break a tackle, my spray would have been “fuck off katoey”, hope that makes sense now.
