What's going on there? Walked past earlier and the police pulled in and kicked the shit out of a couple of guys. Walked past a few hours later and a couple of boys came out and started feeling my pockets and demanding money. Strange area.
I was living there for five months last year. Great river view but the area was declining. Went back there this February to rent another place and the area had declined so much that I changed my mind and moved to Kampot. Unbelievable the stuff I saw going on there from my balcony during those five months. Definitely a place to avoid at night.

I agree, lived on 130 for two years then 136 for two more. Both places 1 block from Sisowath Quay. Moved to BKK1 about 8-9 months ago. Go to that area once in awhile during the day. Seedy would be a kind word to describe it now! Too bad.
theres a gang of theives that live in that street somewhere. most of the girls that work on riverside at night are part of the gang (or else ladyboys that can defend themselves). they pretend to be prostitutes to get into rooms or surround people and pickpocket them. they often sit and talk to people while the guys sneak up on the other side and go thru there bags. any other girls at riverside are forced to give money to these guys. several times I have been talking to a girl and these guys have demanded money from then and then started kicking and hitting them. they dont care who sees because theres no police there and the wardens are working with them and helping them. it was good to see the police beat those guys but the same gang has been running riverside at night for years and police kicking a couple of them once a year isnt going to make a change. they could remove that gang in 2 nights but they wont
Indeed the local Keystone cops wont do nothing to these undesirables. The only solution will be the equivalent of the South America Sombra Negra squad, para military specialized units for street gangs elimination. Swift merciless OP, no custody, trial nor judge, just death corps.fsdfdrt wrote: ↑Fri Sep 03, 2021 1:41 pmtheres a gang of theives that live in that street somewhere. most of the girls that work on riverside at night are part of the gang (or else ladyboys that can defend themselves). they pretend to be prostitutes to get into rooms or surround people and pickpocket them. they often sit and talk to people while the guys sneak up on the other side and go thru there bags. any other girls at riverside are forced to give money to these guys. several times I have been talking to a girl and these guys have demanded money from then and then started kicking and hitting them. they dont care who sees because theres no police there and the wardens are working with them and helping them. it was good to see the police beat those guys but the same gang has been running riverside at night for years and police kicking a couple of them once a year isnt going to make a change. they could remove that gang in 2 nights but they wont
the police I saw last night were merciless. these guys will be in pain for a long time. probably permanent injuries. but it doesnt solve the problem. i saw them taking away crazy people a few nights ago but altho they look bad they arent the ones doing the robberies and intimidating peopleSlow Delivery wrote: ↑Fri Sep 03, 2021 7:00 pmIndeed the local Keystone cops wont do nothing to these undesirables. That is a good police interventation but like you said " it doesn't solve the problem" these lowlifes will be back in the street in a week or so to resume their crimes. they must be eradicated their born with evil in their blood. Jail is not a viable solution, they will be better trained when they come out. Incarceration centers are schools for criminals.fsdfdrt wrote: ↑Fri Sep 03, 2021 8:30 pmthe police I saw last night were merciless. these guys will be in pain for a long time. probably permanent injuries. but it doesnt solve the problem. i saw them taking away crazy people a few nights ago but altho they look bad they arent the ones doing the robberies and intimidating peopleSlow Delivery wrote: ↑Fri Sep 03, 2021 7:00 pmIndeed the local Keystone cops wont do nothing to these undesirables. The bars are not open so why are you hanging around these areas? Asking for trouble it seems.

It’s got this bad near the Riverside? What has happened to the hostess bars? Have many gone for good?
And the pommie chap who founded the chain of bars including the Honeypot, is he still around? And Barry from that place on the north side of 104. Still in town?

There's very little left, someone counted 70 closed businesses along the quay a while back. Pasteur, 172, 136 130 and 104 etc are all semi derelict. There have always been a lot of muggers and weirdos around those areas, it's just more obvious with no tourists anywhere. Barry is still around, but not in the restaurant business anymore.crazyjohn wrote: ↑Mon Sep 06, 2021 10:57 pmIt’s got this bad near the Riverside? What has happened to the hostess bars?
