Yeah that’s what I thought but a poster up there ^ cast doubt on that.
I did hear that a few major sponsors/advertisers pulled out. To be honest the only thing I read was Bits from the beach but that sort of fizzled out after everyone left!

Favourite bars of all time in Phnom Penh - title of the thread, and probably why there is only a fleeting reference to bars outside of PPTimmyG wrote: ↑Sat Dec 18, 2021 4:23 pmDoes anyone remember Brian's bar at lakeside - Freedom? I visited several times but confess I don't remember muchwhich I suppose was kind of the point. And I reckon Dusk till Dawn in Snooky deserves an honourable mention.

Yes, he used to do parties there. He was a long term junkie. He got caught smuggling heroin in India and died in jail there.TimmyG wrote: ↑Sat Dec 18, 2021 4:23 pmDoes anyone remember Brian's bar at lakeside - Freedom?

it was unfortunate the bad feelings that came out of it.

That French pedo was busted by police in 2001 if I remember correctly.dirtymacca wrote: ↑Sun Dec 19, 2021 1:52 pmAbout 2001 I went to Sihanoukville for a few days, we caught up with bar owners Mick and Craig. Their place was certainly not star rated or on the best places to stay list.
After closing time the boys invited us Go-Karting!
We loaded up the van with a couple of bar girls, some beer and headed off into the darkness.
After what seemed like hours driving through paddy fields and other in-hospitable places we saw a flashing light in the distance. As we got closer it turned out to be an old villa with a fence around it.
We stopped at the gate and after a bit of talking from either Mick or Craig the place was suddenly lit up and there was this go kart track in the middle of bum fuck nothing!
There was light rain that night but that added to the fun, one of the girls had a go in the karts, she didn't want to get her clothes wet so she took off her dress and drove around in knickers and bra!
The memory is a bit fuzzy, but I believe the place was owned by a French guy who seemed to like young boys as there was a few around the facility.
Does anyone know anything about the place? The owner? What happened to it and him?
Mick and Craigs burnt down a few years ago, has it risen from the ashes?
