I was told a while ago that Super Duper chain stores belong to a group of Sidney.Lucky Lucan wrote: ↑Tue Nov 09, 2021 7:45 pmI'm not sure where you got that idea. What has it got to do with the shops mentioned? The owner of Super Duper is not one of those.Slow Delivery wrote: ↑Tue Nov 09, 2021 6:39 pmAlways thought Australian were nice people.

No, I think it's owned by a French-Canadian.
Romantic Cambodia is dead and gone. It's with McKinley in the grave.
Canadian, but not French-Canadian.
And Kiwi isn't owned by Kiwis.
For good service, range and often prices Le Marché at TTP deserves an honourable mention. I picked up a lapin a la moutarde ready meal and the cashier tagged it FREE and didn't charge me because it was past its sell-by date. How many other places here would do that ?
At Lucky they would have discounted it on the shelf and then charged full price at the check-out.

And a dishonourable mention for Kiwi on street 51 yesterday.
I gave the checkout guy two tens and he rang it up as $19.51 received, and gave me change from that. Khmer smiles.
I pointed out his error and he wrestled with a calculator for a few minutes, then gave me 2,000 riel from the register. The smiling stopped.
Why you look down on Cambodian people sir ? Or as Ali G would say, Is it because I is black ?

This is nonsense...it seems like he has entered 80,000 riel - the equivalent of $20 at 4000 to $1.MaxB wrote: ↑Sun Nov 21, 2021 10:41 amAnd a dishonourable mention for Kiwi on street 51 yesterday.

Then the computer system calculates the dollar equivalent at 4100 to $1 which is $19.51.
It's mathematical bollocks. I bet they have been told to enter values in riel but 4000 riel to a dollar is easier for his brain to work out than 4100. Or maybe he just made a mistake....
But that's the point with this riel/dollar mess: when you're paying it's 4100 riel to a dollar, when you're getting the change it's all of a sudden 4000 riel to a dollar.ផោមក្លិនស្អុយ wrote: ↑Sun Nov 21, 2021 11:37 amThis is nonsense...it seems like he has entered 80,000 riel - the equivalent of $20 at 4000 to $1.

Good point, $20 is $19.51 at that rateផោមក្លិនស្អុយ wrote: ↑Sun Nov 21, 2021 11:37 amThis is nonsense...it seems like he has entered 80,000 riel - the equivalent of $20 at 4000 to $1.
No, obviously they don't and are not told to operate that way. You give then $10 for $9 worth of goods and they give you $1 (4,100r) back. At least in all my other transactions with them.
All he has to do is remember that $20 = 19.51, $10 = 9.76 etc. Or maybe he entered it in Riel, I didn't see. But obviously he would have been unable to multiply 20 by 4,000 in his head.
I admire his entrepreneurialism, but I think it's a bit much that he logged on with someone else's ID 'SreyLin' so that if I pass this to the management he won't be the one getting the boot.
I think he studied in Melbourne, but he has been an expat for a while. Like Richard Blaine, 'a citizen of the world'.Lucky Lucan wrote: ↑Sun Nov 21, 2021 11:04 amIt seems he's Canadian/Australian.MaxB wrote: ↑Wed Nov 10, 2021 10:09 amCanadian, but not French-Canadian.
