Cambodia opening to tourists when?
Now I have paid for a ticket for one of my daughters. With Lufthansa over Singapore the 22. So I hope everything is ok. She has 2 Pfizer shots. Forte Insurance. Currently processing visa.
Check the VTL status for Singapore transit. If the in person conditions do not match with the flight VTL status, it'll be denied boarding.

Omicron's R number is estimated to be 3.47... Delta's R number is one. By Christmas it is expected the the two variants will create 178,000 new COVID cases in the UK... Say goodbye to foreign arrivals from Europe for the next while...

I just mean that most people will be more hesitant to travel from Europe due to uncertainty.... Rules change and will for sure if deaths pick up.... Remember all the stories of people from Australia waiting months to be repatriated last year, etc...chkai chgout wrote: ↑Wed Dec 15, 2021 9:04 pmIt is here now so further travel restrictions will soon be ineffective

Delta is not "1", higher, otherwise we would not have seen the next wave coming up.
Anyway, the R0 is highly determined by the measures in place.
And, yep, quarantine free traveling might be over in just a few weeks, if not earlier.
It'll be highly depend on how lethal the Omicron variant shows to be. For now, the figures aren't that bad, though time will tell.
My understanding is, she got intercepted on entry, so not a community infection and as such Omicron did not (yet) arrive in Cambodia, though that'll be just a matter of time. WITH travel restrictions in place, this would not have happened.......chkai chgout wrote: ↑Wed Dec 15, 2021 9:04 pmIt is here now so further travel restrictions will soon be ineffective

Travel restrictions take care the "International R0" (IE spread around the globe) will be low compare to a situation without travel restrictions. All in all, buying the governments time to arrange booster application and create a legal base for mandatory vaccinations.

Unless you include vaccinations in your definition of 'measures', that's not very accurate. Cases kept going up during Australia's strict lockdowns and seemed to fall - or plateau - after its reopening. Covid has a mind of its own.
Yup and now the States have fully opened their borders and dropped all restrictions the virus is going fucking nuts with new daily infection high rates every day . Oops.Starving Pelican wrote: ↑Thu Dec 16, 2021 3:25 amUnless you include vaccinations in your definition of 'measures', that's not very accurate. Going to be a real shitty Xmas for a bunch of people in the Eastern sea board.

It's more that people change their behavior, including reaching a higher vaccination level in the population. This stuff is not "linear".

If you look at the graphs of the spread of Delta in many countries including India, as well as Thailand and Sydney, Australia, Delta peaked around week 9 (trough to peak). Sydney's peak was in a slightly shorter timeframe (7 or 8 weeks) possibly owing to high vaccination rates. Omicron could be over by the end of February (trough, peak, almost back to trough)Starving Pelican wrote: ↑Thu Dec 16, 2021 3:25 amUnless you include vaccinations in your definition of 'measures', that's not very accurate. By measures I assumed you meant restrictions imposed by the govt. If not, you're correct, Lord Broadmind.v12 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 16, 2021 10:07 amThat must be a pretty small mind, not even self-sustaining.Starving Pelican wrote: ↑Thu Dec 16, 2021 3:25 amUnless you include vaccinations in your definition of 'measures', that's not very accurate. People can (and will) take their own measures, based on what they perceive on the information they consume. So, when Covid-19 cases skyrocket, suddenly a lot of people change their priorities and are more prepared to follow advice of those in the known (vs unfounded FakeBook of Foxnews "opinions").
