Happy to return last week to PP for a quick 3 days visit after being gone for +2 years.
Some things I noticed...comments?
1) A concerted effort to not give small change in US $. Is this new? They take the small US $, but I never get change smaller than a $10.
2) A lot of condos being built. There's a HUGE condo development on the river going north up past the port area with all the beer cruises. Is there that much demand for condos here? (They were building when I was last here but I thought for sure they would have slowed down.)
3) What have they done to the train station? The last time I saw it it was open air and a beautiful example of colonial architecture. Now - it's enclosed and has 3 coffee shops? Why???? Why did they do this?
4) Really sorry to see so many closed businesses along the river, but not surprised.
5) Forgot how strange some PP expats are. The guys I'm talking about aren't reading forums and posting on khmer400 so not aimed at this crowd....maybe...
6) A lot less Chinese walking around. That's got to be due to China's COVID policy and quarantines in China, no?
7) The selection at Zando was crap, but doubt anyone but me cares about that.
8) Has Blue Pumpkin completely closed down?

1. The Central Bank or some other body have discouraged the use of $1 and $5 bills.
Romantic Cambodia is dead and gone. It's with McKinley in the grave.
1) Supposedly discontinuing distribution 2) Evidently for Chinese workers when they return 3) Because they probably felt 3 coffee shops were enough 4) They are starting to come back now, with the plans to make Sisowath a walking street 5) There are exercises you can do to increase your memory power 6) Correct. No. They have gone back due to a break from work or deported. They are returning from returning soon (yippee) 7) I agree. It's only you 8) No such place
Yes there is.
Blue Pumpkin's physical locations shut down a few years ago, well before COVID, after (someone correct me if I'm wrong) the foreign owner passed away, they are still operating and selling products on Nham24.
I'm not a negative person, I encourage people all the time...it's usually to f**k off! But, whatever.
