Black hole coming for Cambodia
Black hole coming for Cambodia
Anyone heard this story of a guy on Facebook posting that a black hole is coming for Cambodia (from the recent NASA video playing "audio" of a black hole). Apparently, some people have left the provinces to go to Siem Reap, the only safe place to go to avoid it and some people have flown from working abroad e.g. returning from Korea. It all sounds bonkers and there's nothing in the anglo press. Wife is hearing from others though. Anyone else heard this?

I've seen a fair bit about it on Khmer meme pages. There's also a running gag about a doomsday cult in the Kulen mountains with the cult and black hole seemingly connected. Some people dont deserve the internet...
The vast majority of Cambodians think it’s amusing. I’ve seen pictures - they’ve got phone stalls, food carts etc all set up.
I don’t understand why they sold everything if money will be pointless after doomsday?
Give it a few weeks and they’ll be back.

There were several thousand ppl who made three journey to SR including a few thousand from Korea. Some crazy end of the world stuff spread by an opposition politician to his gullible cohorts. Claimed the only safe place was.. his farm in SR.
Apparently Hun Manet paid him a visit as well. I doubt it was out of fear of a huge flood (I heard floods, not black holes, but hey they're probably related).

Yes, it is coming!!! Be prepared. Bring an umbrella and a towel.
That's numberwang.
I wonder how much money they made of this doomsday scam.....
The party is over soon, just in time to drown if the predicted flooding is correct hehe. That must suck coming all the way from South Korea. Khmer love Khmer....

A similar story happend in Thailand around 10 years ago where only the North East would be safe. People started to buy real estate. It is the poorest part of the country.... I forgot the details of that story and am too lazy to Google.

The singularity can be found at the bottom of someone's pocket where the money to made is potentially infinitely dense.

Siem Reap provincial authorities place “doomsday farm” under lockdown
As warnings go unheeded, Siem Reap provincial authorities have cordoned off the farm of League for Democracy Party (LDP) president, where people have gathered to escape a fabled doomsday flood.
Prior to the action, the Siem Reap Provincial Administration has instructed the crowd of about 20,000 strong should disperse, as worries over poor hygiene and Covid-19 infection persist among authorities.

I wonder if the leader knew this would happen and it was a last hurrah by him before he is locked up for his own good?

Stop the Covid-19 worrying. Last year many caught it at/after Pchum Ben when the government conveniently stopped counting and encouraged travel. Oh wow, that is right around the corner..... Better have that extra dose of vaccine or avoid the locals later this month.
This doomsday guy? Not gonna happen much when all of his followers are still on the farm. After that.... let's wait and see.
