My mail is that the Barang Manager of the Parrot is still in jail and will be for a couple more weeks.
The players arrested were "fined" and are out.
The Parrot is open after some negotiations.

Note to self: Must be nice to morons.
So the way I read that is the owner of the Pickled Parrot negotiated for his business but threw his manager under the bus. What a great boss to let their staff stew in a jail cell for weeks.
Remember that if you want to spend any money down at the Pickled Parrot.
"Goodness me! Now STD free..."
Seems like it was perfectly timed for Pchum

Pretty shoddy of the Parrot landlord to leave the manager to rot in jail. Mind you, keeping his business open must be a massive weight off his shoulders.rektj00 wrote: ↑Tue Oct 04, 2022 4:13 amSo the way I read that is the owner of the Pickled Parrot negotiated for his business but threw his manager under the bus. If I were the owner of a business & found the manager I had employed had set up illegal gambling activities, I'd probably sack the guy & let him rot too.
Or are we giving the Parrot different rules because it used to be a really decent bar under Grum/Kunthea back in the good ol' days?
Or did the owner know about this & turned a blind eye, in which case, fair point.

You read wrong. The owners and overseer are not in Cambodia.rektj00 wrote: ↑Tue Oct 04, 2022 4:13 amSo the way I read that is the owner of the Pickled Parrot negotiated for his business but threw his manager under the bus. What a great boss to let their staff stew in a jail cell for weeks.

Commenting without any knowledge of the situation or structure.
The negotiations would have been done by the licensee who is the partner of the manager.

OK I read wrong. I take it back.

Surely the owner & partner knew about it. I knew about it and I am neither well connected or a gamblerSpigzy wrote: ↑Tue Oct 04, 2022 9:20 amIf I were the owner of a business & found the manager I had employed had set up illegal gambling activities, I'd probably sack the guy & let him rot too.

No idea, certainly with the owner apparently not being in Cambodia probably doesn't help,. I had no idea about it, the only card games I know about happen at private residences. Then again, I don't get out much!ReasonstobefearfulP3 wrote: ↑Tue Oct 04, 2022 6:45 pmSurely the owner & partner knew about it.
