What cars do you drive
Haven't owned a car since I left NZ in 2005...oh, I lie, I had a pimped out campervan for a few months when I was living in Port Douglas, Australia, but only ever drove it a couple times so got rid of it. Last time I drove was in Kabul in 2016, B7 armoured G-Wagons, great little vehicles in traffic but shit turning circle I found.
I'm not a negative person, I encourage people all the time...it's usually to f**k off! But, whatever.
Must be great to not own/need a car.PSD_Kiwi wrote: ↑Thu Nov 17, 2022 2:12 pmHaven't owned a car since I left NZ in 2005...oh, I lie, I had a pimped out campervan for a few months when I was living in Port Douglas, Australia, but only ever drove it a couple times so got rid of it. I'm driving a Toyata Aqua hybrid and also have a Toyota Coaster RV.
What car are you driving Rune?
I Cambodia had an ancient CRV, now a Mazda CX-5 on lease which I’m buying off and keeping at lease end.

Where are you leasing from? Can recommend?
That should have read in Cambodia I had the ancient CRV, in the US have the CX-5.
The prices are just silly in the Kingdom due to the taxes. You'd want to go to the Mazda dealer in Cambodia though if you're looking, just be seated when they quote the prices to you as you may become faint.

Yes. I wanted to buy a BYD Atto 3 electric car. But it has a sticker price of $ 41,000 I think. You can get a Tesla for than in other countries.GMJS-440 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 01, 2022 8:37 pmThat should have read in Cambodia I had the ancient CRV, in the US have the CX-5.

I don't know where people get the money for the extremely big cars I see everywhere. Toyota Tundras. They're like 70,000. Toyota Land Rover - even more expensive. Range Rovers everywhere. Looking at the cars, people are richer here than in Copenhagen.
Unless you’re up on latest models and a bit of a car but it’s very hard to distinguish a 2012 Land Rover or Lexus to a 2022, especially with the body kits.
I am and I can tell you 50% of them are a lot older than they look.

Many Cambodians made a packet on land/house sales back in the day, and it isn't imposible to find that even a Rolls Royce parked inside a $100k town house. For some reason having a fancy car is a must have here for status, but they'll eat bobor at a local market for riel. Again, you never know if that guy in the Lambo is thinking about driving it off a bridge more than his next big business deal, so don't fall prey to envy of apparently rich people in big cars. Many of them are not that wealthy, and are borrowed to the hilt against their homes; where one grain of sand going wrong will make them a Chroy Changvar special. delivery.
Old Range Rover here, older Porsche 928 (UK storage), but I tend to ride my old small Harley more than anything here now, traffic is just ridiculous. Plus I like the open air to remind me where I live, instead of freezing aircon from home/travel/office..
